American Food

Two salmon filets, 1/2 cup of marmalade, 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of ground garlic, 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl then brush over the salmon with half of the glaze. Broil for 6 minutes, remove and brush the rest of the glaze on, broil another 2 minutes, and enjoy.

I get confused whether this should go in this thread, the lunch thread, or some other, but: chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, (brown gravy), corn, cabbage, and cornbread.

I prefer white gravy on biscuits, brown gravy on mashed potatoes, and I can go either way on CFS, but they put the gravy on both the CFS and potatoes so I have to go brown on both. I'm sure we've already done gravy in detail, right @RAFUH?

I west to Subway for lunch last week, and I swear Lays is just trolling America with these new chip (crisp) flavors. Had to trying the Biscuits and Gravy...at a stretch they tasted like the name.
tried those when coming back from school at gas station (got the truffle ones) they were meh. Think they're part of some kind of design your own flavor contest

I don't recall a gravy specific discussion

Gotta have cream gravy with chicken fried steak regardless of the potatoes.

Concur on the cream gravy call @RAFUH

Brown gravy is acceptable on potatoes, I guess, although I avoid it. But cream gravy on fried chicken is soul food defined. Top 10 hangover cure too.

I actually had Ranch-Cream Gravy on a chicken fried steak last week. They said it was pretty much just like cream gravy but with ranch seasoning added.

It was different. Still very undecided on it so I'll probably stick to old fashioned cream gravy in the future.

I hear you. I had a lengthy discussion about this many years ago. Me, I'd rather go with the white gravy on the chicken fried steak and swerve the gravy on the mash altogether, but that's just me. It's like having cornbread go with greens while biscuits go with your fried chicken. If you have chicken and greens, what are you gonna do? (ME: is both an option here?)

These are some of the deepest, most important questions ever examined on this forum. (a Hank Hill nod of respect to you, Sir)

Chicken fried steak - it's what comes next when you show a German a longhorn steer. I saw this on a wall somewhere in New Braunfels once upon a time.

@SerenityNigh

Also, cream gravy is incredible on biscuits for breakfast.

Lets have a round of applause for GRAVY

Let's make sure we don't confuse our friends from across the pond since these are two very different gravies.

The one on the chicken (equally good on a chicken fried steak) is simply gravy and pepper.

The one on the biscuits has loads of sausage in it.

The one on the biscuits can have loads of sausage in it. The picture I posted appears to be a cream gravy.

Edit: Nope. Clearly sausage there.
