Allardyce On Left Backs

Yeh it is shocking there are title-challenging teams out there that can sign high profile wingers but we can't find any left-backs.

Spurs are closer to West Ham than City.

Fact is, Leicester’s recruitment has been totally unchanged post-Walsh; ours has been woeful since Moyes left, and has got significantly worse with Walsh.

So the question is what exactly does he add?

I would trust this guy more than Walsh to spot a good player.:)

This is all walsh's fault. The waste of space. A proper dof, identifies issues regardless of the manager and urges the board to buy players even for the long term. Before the the start of last season he should have seen the data etc that showed Baines was on the way out. And he did nothing. Baines successor should have been sorted summer 2016!! And here we are Jan 2018. Absolutely incompetent.

So shalke Chelsea and stoke all got a left back (2 of them connected) yet we can't find one?

It's things like this that makes this whole transfer committee here a joke. I'm sorry but if we wait, what do we get then? A keane? A Martina again? A sandro/klassen who never get a game?

Jesus we could even 're sign oviedo and I'll be happy

I still cannot understand why we shipped him out. Koeman basically undone everything Martinez and Motes did.

I think the negativity on Martina on this board and toffeeweb over the past few months is blown out of proportion. He is obviously an easy target because he came for free and was a Koeman favourite at his old club.

Firstly I'll say he makes mistakes, he'll miss a clearance or a header and it'll lead to a goal. But I think he's defensively very solid for most games and there are some games where he's good for 75 minutes, and he'll have a brain fade for 10-15 minutes. Other teams also much prefer to target Jonjoe Kenny's side rather than Martina's, because he's easier to get past. Martina has good size, isn't slow and can read the play better. He also puts in a much better effort and appears to give a s*** on the pitch as opposed to mercs like Schneiderlin who walked into the team on reputation. In fact, I'd even go so far as to say, Martina's a better signing than Sigurdsson because he was 45m cheaper and can play in the first 11. He's also just a backup/squad player, and Baines is out at the moment.

Anyway I think people should give him a chance.
