I keep repeatedly seeing variations of "Biden has handled this badly but..." - with the key word being "but".

There shouldn't be a "but" with this.
That's your issue. Not that people are giving Biden a free pass (they aren't) it's that they don't agree with you that Biden is solely to blame.

Which is an absurd position for you to take.

Because its true. The buck stops with him on this. He 100% is responsible for this withdrawal. It's nothing to do with Donald Trump.

This is the level of idiocy that runs rampant in GQP circles and dominates right-wing media in this country.

There's no doubt in my mind Trump would have done this just as badly.

But again, in no way does that excuse Biden even the slightest bit for what he's done.

They are two disparate things.

Works both ways - if Trump did exactly what Biden has done, the people defending Biden now would be on the attack without a second thought.

It's political from everyone.

I think almost everyone in here has acknowledged what a balls up this is and that Biden is more or less responsible tbf. And I echoed your sentiment last week, I also feel that the blame lands squarely on his shoulders

I think he deserves a fair chunk of it tbh. Trump's not in office anymore and Biden has overseen this disaster. If the shoe was on the other foot and this was Trump, and I have no doubt it would also be a complete catastrophe on his watch too, then I know what I'd be saying about it

Trump wanted to admit defeat and pull troops out the Democrats blocked it. America lost that war as soon as they invaded. Shouldn't of been there in the first place. The amount of innocent men, women and children they have burned alive and bombed is staggering there. They do it in other countries in the region. Were never going to defeat the Taliban. They lost. But the turmoil they started continues. @SteveSC

Withdrawal, pull out. Love these terms they have people saying to make it out they haven't just lost a 20 year war they declared of bloodshed, murder they caused. Its called retreating. And it should have happened a long time ago. Should never have went over there.
