I do, and I mentioned it in an earlier post…however Biden is the man in charge, he changed many of Trumps plans, and he is responsible for how the USA withdraws or not. He could easily have dismissed what Trump agreed, and could easily have at least put a withdrawal plan in place that was not a shambles. Sound bites are fine, but the helicopters leaving the USA embassy in Kabul tell a story similar to Saigon…….
To be fair to Trump, Johnson, Biden, Merkel, Macron and whichever political figures you want to mention, there is nothing easy about this situation.

It's a complete mess and I fear for the Afghani people.

Dont think it was ever going to go any other way to be honest.
All throughout history the different tribes have fought with each other.
Taliban are mostly Pashtun, more in common with Pakistan, than other tribes who have different pulls historically and culturally.
Most of the last governments were made up from mostly the other groupings. It was never going to last.
It will quickly descend into a civil war sadly.

I remember when certain individuals took us into this and dismissed how difficult it would be and the eventual timescale for involvement. As you say, look at the history….

The problem is that it’s an American led coalition, made up of various elements and capabilities in a form of matrix. Removing the biggest and lead part of the coalition destroys the capability of the group. Trump and Biden did this against the advice of other coalition members…..

Once again, I raised the issue of the Trump ‘deal’. However Biden has been in charge for a while and revoked a number of Trump plans, but not this one. This mess belongs to Biden.

My reference to BLM was to show where our ‘priorities’ lie. Your reference to the royal yacht is just stupid….

For anyone who actually cares to know what the truth of this matter is - when Trump took office in 2017, there were around 9000 US troops in Afghanistan. When he left office, after signing a peace deal committing the US to withdraw its forces, there were 2500. It is those 2500 that Biden pulled out in line with the deal that Trump had negotiated, signed and wanted completed earlier than Biden did.

Isn’t the yacht a “priority” we are dealing with rather than Afghanistan? I’m just trying to play your game here.

Thank you, but we all know this….

No, you are just being stupid. Again, if you have anything to add to the situation or issues in Afghanistan then please comment. If all you are going to do is play politics find another thread…..

It costs between £75-£150m year to sustain a division in the British Army (depending on the number of brigades). You'd need to add a few million if deployed.

So, you could easily send a brigade (three to four thousand) to Afghanistan for £30-50m a year, so lets bin the yacht and get the troops out there for five years.

Good idea @peteblue?

I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be rude, but I cannot take this level of stupidity anymore…..
