It‘s not a diversion. It’s just another example of how we in the west focus on certain issues but completely ignore the plight of a whole country. My (biased) views as you call them are aimed at the politicians such as Biden who love certain political issues yet have casually initiated what will be the greatest failing of the West to the detriment of millions….
You realise Trump set this withdrawal in motion?

I don't think anyone can ignore it Pete, it's obviously a complete disgrace. Disgraceful that they were there to begin with, disgraceful that they are pulling out now.

Edit: wtf was the BLM reference about?

But my point is, why bring up BLM now? Nobody has mentioned it (or anything else) and from what I can see it currently has no relevance to the debate.

While the accelerated exit and complete underestimation (or ignoring) of the Taliban ability are not be ignored, we're ignoring the elephant in the room.

We have been in Afghanistan since 2001 - that's twenty years. In reality, we're probably another ten years away from any semblance of stability.

And ten years is being very, very optimistic, so what? I'm not advocating leaving, far from it, but staying indefinitely was quite simply not the way forward.

Oh, it was Trump by the way that began the US withdraw from Afghanistan, so...

I do, and I mentioned it in an earlier post…however Biden is the man in charge, he changed many of Trumps plans, and he is responsible for how the USA withdraws or not. He could easily have dismissed what Trump agreed, and could easily have at least put a withdrawal plan in place that was not a shambles. Sound bites are fine, but the helicopters leaving the USA embassy in Kabul tell a story similar to Saigon…….

Oh just the fact that we take a knee, care about something that is political but not killing thousands, yet totally put aside the future killing of hundreds of thousands and the subjugation of millions of women and young girls……

Yes I know all that and referred to it in earlier posts….

if it helps pete, you don't care about that either - you are just trying to pre-empt any blame your lot will get for overseeing this state of affairs

And you haven’t a clue do you. This is not a U.K. political issue any more. But hey, Brexit, Scummy Tories, Boris, Immigration, whatever…..

Please come back when you have something to add to the conversation….
I’ll have a conversation when you have some balanced and informed viewpoints. Calling out Biden while disregarding the situation Trump left him in. Making no mention of our involvement in this horrendous mess.

But no, you bring up BLM for absolutely no valid reason. Maybe we could use the hundreds of millions that we’re going to spend on that bloody yacht that you love so much to help out in Afghanistan.

I think people tend to have more to say on the problems of their own country and stuff they feel they have a stake in. Drawing parallels to BLM is like me saying "You criticise remainers, but why haven't you said anything about the anti monarchy protests in Swaziland?"

It’s an absolute mess, and it didn’t need to be…..
Dont think it was ever going to go any other way to be honest.
All throughout history the different tribes have fought with each other.
Taliban are mostly Pashtun, more in common with Pakistan, than other tribes who have different pulls historically and culturally.
Most of the last governments were made up from mostly the other groupings. It was never going to last.
It will quickly descend into a civil war sadly.

And you haven’t a clue do you. This is not a U.K. political issue any more. But hey, Brexit, Scummy Tories, Boris, Immigration, whatever…..

I would hazard a guess that I have rather more clue than you, and rather less incentive to try and prevent one party being blamed for this mess.

Once again, I raised the issue of the Trump ‘deal’. However Biden has been in charge for a while and revoked a number of Trump plans, but not this one. This mess belongs to Biden.

My reference to BLM was to show where our ‘priorities’ lie. Your reference to the royal yacht is just stupid….
