Ademola Lookman

Lookman wanted a loan because he got no playing time under Koeman in a time when the club was completely death of pace. So granted it was a situation before Allardyce.

We got Walcott for the right flank when Allardyce arrived but we still were weak on the left. I’m quite sure had he told him he was part of his plans over a crocked Bolasie then Lookman wouldn’t have sought out the loan.

Tbf to Allardyce though, I guess his job wasn’t to try and give younger lads a game and his job is probably made easier with tried and tested players.
Yeah I kind of agree with you, but it also has to be said that a player who isn't getting many starts needs to do more to show why they should be playing. Everyone always talks about that cameo at Anfield when he did well (not quite as well some people seem to remember it, but well) but there were plenty of games when he was given an opportunity and had very little impact.

I'm not saying it's easy to be in and out of the team or affect games as a sub, but the brutal fact of the matter is that 18 months after signing, the lad has only had any sort of impact in about 3 games for us. That's not great, and it goes some way to explaining why a succession of managers haven't deemed him ready to be a regular yet.

I am not sure whether to celebrate when he has gone, (a) just to wind up the few on here who think he is or will be the best forward since Alan Ball, or (b) just to get rid of this tedious thread.

Get the impression that the grass is greener. Surprised he was not brought on on saturday if he was really in Silva’s plans. Appears not to be the patient type.

He's been at Everton a while and has played in Germany for half a season so I reckon he's probably got a pretty decent grip on what he feels is his better or preferred option. Wanting to play first team football strikes me as a very understandable attitude and doesn't strike me as simple impatience. He's at a stage now where he'll only benefit from regular first team action - not the odd sub appearance and a run out in the Carabao Cup.

If we can get close to the asking price and the manager considers him surplus then it's a pretty good deal for all parties.

I just don't think it is that simple.
Koeman and his team are gone, Allyrdyce and his team are gone. Bolasie will be gone shortly leaving only Walcott, Richarlison and Lookman as genuine wide players and he seems to be staying only because Everton won't sell or Leipzig won't pay.
Lookman is one injury away from starting nearly every week in the premiership... if he really is good enough.

Two class players are required in each position - therefore he stays.

Once we're in the top four and he's getting 20 minutes in the second half he'll be happier. He can't expect to start ahead of Richarlison.

Lookman isnt a dummy...8 As at GCSE tells us this, as does his outmanouvering of Allardyce on the loan move. He wants games and sees Richarlison,Bernard and dare i say Sigurdsson as more senior players in either the left or central attacking roles.

We signed him for £7.5mil rising to £11.5mil.

Richarlison is 5months older than him

If we were to sell him for £28mil and £20% of any future fee then it would likely cover to fee paid for Richarlison.

On the other hand, weve been commenting on Richarlison playing at Left Forward now and how Bernard plays there too...

Interestingly, in an attacking centre midfield role we only have Sigurdsson, and the right, Walcott...their only backup would be Dowell.

Signing Bernard makes sense if he can play all three positions. If hes best on the left then it only makes sense (based on the high wages) if Richarlison is moved centrally...then,where does Lookman actually play?

If Richarlison and Bernard are in the 2 attacking slots and signings by the new management...then the only position to envisage lookman playing in would be the right side, and he doesnt play there, ever.

I think this is the only way he gets regular games (and as we wouldnt have any real like for like cover for any of the 4 forward players he may be shunted around a bit);

Richarlison
Bernard -- Lookman - Walcott
Sigurdsson/Gomes -- Gana

That i think is very exciting...BUT the team would be changing freqently...
A team to entertain every week without actually ever winning a game.

Route for Lookman - Train hard, get in the match squad, get off the bench and make an impact / score, wait for the inevitable injury to the first choice and again make an impact / score, secure first team place and keep it by making an impact / scoring.

OR cry and be overlooked

No don’t get me wrong, I think we won’t sell and I think had the game on Saturday gone a bit differently then he probably would have came off the bench.

I’m just commenting really how it’s a shame that it’s come to him perhaps looking to jump ship when he at least should have got more chances under both Koeman and Allardyce last season given lack of pace and por form of players above him in the pecking order.
