Welcome aboard RATFINK AIRWAYS, we are now boarding for a flight to Germany

If we have set a price of 30m then they should just pay it, if they are so desperate to get the lad. Increasing their offer by 2m to 22m, well it going to take another 5 bids to land the player at this rate. Remember this is from a club that’s just netted nearly 60m for Keita.

How is that? He scored one of the softest goals Ive ever seen against City and people thought him to be jesus, even tho he hasnt done anything in a blue shirt since. If we get anything close to 30mill for this sulking, whining man-child we should all be dancing in the streets.

He hasn't really been given enough gametime to flatter or deceive in equal measure, was my point.

We didn't get 60m for him but that wasn't the point, you said no one improved after leaving us. Obviously it's subjective but for me stones is the best central defender in the league now despite all the jizzing over van dijk
As much as it pains me to say it I am not sure I would pick Stones if I had a choice of the two.
Stones was left out by Guardiola last season for a long stretch and I would say that his World Cup performances when he was really needed were just not good enough.

I still think with Lookman it is largely an exercise in playing hardball. Whilst we have shifted a lot of players and reduced the wage bill, in terms of fees netted the returns have been fairly meagre. This is the one and only bigger opportunity to offset some of the money spent, as the accountants would see it. And like it or not, he isn't exactly indispensable.

I'm not sure if he'll go, but they seem determined to make Leipzig pay. If they reach whatever threshhold is set, I think the board will give the green-light to sell him.

I'd like him to stay, players of his age with more than decent potential are hard to come by. And we need the cover with Bolasie set to leave. But if he does want to leave and our valuation is met, then together with the existing business, it would represent a very decent window all things considered. We would still have achieved a very significant overhaul of the squad, for a modest net outlay.

On balance I think he is still off.

Explain how bundesliga is better than English football? Explain how it isn't easier to create chances and score.

Thanks.

German football is of a good standard, they get good crowds and its a boss place to live (generally).

I could see why a player would want to go there.

I reckon I would chose Germany if I was a pro footballer.

One day...

I think the point about incomings is a good one. Decent fee for Mori and Klaassen but not a lot else. Lots off the wage bill and overall reduced which is good, but you can imagine they'd like to get some transfer revenue in if the opportunity arose.

I think we will see more of this as well. We have lots of players around 21-19 and I don't think all can make it. It will mean that some are moved on at certain points and sometimes they won't make that much sense.

The other thing to factor in for me though, is that Brands doesn't want to be seen as a soft touch. The sort of early offers Leipzig made where insulting and he has been right to dig in. That he's got them to nearly double their offer to 22 million is quite telling. I hope we hold out for close to 30 million and get a decent sell on clause in their too if he goes. I also think they've set a clear example to the young players, nobody sulks and gets an easy move.

I'm ambivalent on him. He has a lot of ability and unique skill to do the hardest thing in the game (which is making and scoring goals) but the rest of his game is still a little raw. If he stays and knuckles down he will become a better player. If we get close to 30 million for him we will have trebled if not quadrupled our original investment, which especially within the context of some disastrous business is not to be sniffed at for me. I hope he stays but we are getting towards a pretty reasonable fee. It would also be good to have a relationship with leipzig going forward.

I don't get the Sky headline Everton demand £28m.

We're not demanding anything from anybody. He's our player and we want him to stay. But if somebody wants him they need to pay our valuation or do one. This kid is not part of the firesale.
