Ademola Lookman

If we have set a price of 30m then they should just pay it, if they are so desperate to get the lad. Increasing their offer by 2m to 22m, well it going to take another 5 bids to land the player at this rate. Remember this is from a club that’s just netted nearly 60m for Keita.
Better off taking 22m and a 20% future transfer fee

I don't get the Sky headline Everton demand £28m.

We're not demanding anything from anybody. He's our player and we want him to stay. But if somebody wants him they need to pay our valuation or do one. This kid is not part of the firesale.
Im suprised the Sky headline wasn't "Everton have got a right nerve asking for that much" followed by rants on Talk Sport hows it not fair we try and hold onto players

I have been a huge Lookman fan since we signed him. Have no idea what's going on behind the scenes, if he is dinged, or if he is pouting or has a bad attitude etc...but at this point, I'm just getting tired of hearing about it. If he doesn't play, and play well this weekend, just be done with the distraction and move him.

I think the point about incomings is a good one. Decent fee for Mori and Klaassen but not a lot else. Lots off the wage bill and overall reduced which is good, but you can imagine they'd like to get some transfer revenue in if the opportunity arose.

I think we will see more of this as well. We have lots of players around 21-19 and I don't think all can make it. It will mean that some are moved on at certain points and sometimes they won't make that much sense.

The other thing to factor in for me though, is that Brands doesn't want to be seen as a soft touch. The sort of early offers Leipzig made where insulting and he has been right to dig in. That he's got them to nearly double their offer to 22 million is quite telling. I hope we hold out for close to 30 million and get a decent sell on clause in their too if he goes. I also think they've set a clear example to the young players, nobody sulks and gets an easy move.

I'm ambivalent on him. He has a lot of ability and unique skill to do the hardest thing in the game (which is making and scoring goals) but the rest of his game is still a little raw. If he stays and knuckles down he will become a better player. If we get close to 30 million for him we will have trebled if not quadrupled our original investment, which especially within the context of some disastrous business is not to be sniffed at for me. I hope he stays but we are getting towards a pretty reasonable fee. It would also be good to have a relationship with leipzig going forward.

Lookman isnt a dummy...8 As at GCSE tells us this, as does his outmanouvering of Allardyce on the loan move. He wants games and sees Richarlison,Bernard and dare i say Sigurdsson as more senior players in either the left or central attacking roles.

We signed him for £7.5mil rising to £11.5mil.

Richarlison is 5months older than him

If we were to sell him for £28mil and £20% of any future fee then it would likely cover to fee paid for Richarlison.

On the other hand, weve been commenting on Richarlison playing at Left Forward now and how Bernard plays there too...

Interestingly, in an attacking centre midfield role we only have Sigurdsson, and the right, Walcott...their only backup would be Dowell.

Signing Bernard makes sense if he can play all three positions. If hes best on the left then it only makes sense (based on the high wages) if Richarlison is moved centrally...then,where does Lookman actually play?

If Richarlison and Bernard are in the 2 attacking slots and signings by the new management...then the only position to envisage lookman playing in would be the right side, and he doesnt play there, ever.

I think this is the only way he gets regular games (and as we wouldnt have any real like for like cover for any of the 4 forward players he may be shunted around a bit);

Richarlison
Bernard -- Lookman - Walcott
Sigurdsson/Gomes -- Gana

That i think is very exciting...BUT the team would be changing freqently...

Why zat why

Allardyce is an idiot. Should not have loaned him and should have given him game time. We would now know if he was good enough and if so he would possibly be settled with us.

Get the impression that the grass is greener. Surprised he was not brought on on saturday if he was really in Silva’s plans. Appears not to be the patient type.

No Allardyce didn't want to loan him at all. Lookman wanted to go, and so Allardyce wanted him to go to Derby rather than Leipzig.

Lookman wanted a loan because he got no playing time under Koeman in a time when the club was completely death of pace. So granted it was a situation before Allardyce.

We got Walcott for the right flank when Allardyce arrived but we still were weak on the left. I’m quite sure had he told him he was part of his plans over a crocked Bolasie then Lookman wouldn’t have sought out the loan.

Tbf to Allardyce though, I guess his job wasn’t to try and give younger lads a game and his job is probably made easier with tried and tested players.

Tbf mate, had we been chasing the game or we were cruising I’m quite confident he would have came on.

If he did get game time and turned out not good enough, I doubt we would be recieving bids in excess of £20m.

I just have a feeling if we do keep hold of him, we will rue not selling him for the fee currently banded about.
