He’d be more of a liability at left back as I said. Left wing aye he’s an option for sub.

Most fans are clueless mate. They don’t understand that the first goal is absolutely crucial in most premier league games and particularly for us. Playing Aznou at left would massively increase the risk that we would concede the first goal because he looks extremely naive. We would be better in attack and more attractive to watch for sure but we would win fewer points.

The point being Myko's defensive 'qualtiies' - and how good are they actually ? - do not outweigh his total uselessness anywhere else on the pitch

They kinda do though. He is a solid defender and keeping clean sheets is what wins us points.

Has energy, intensity, gives 100% and done more in 5 minutes than then the rest of the team combined for 90.... So that's a no from moyes!

sorry mate, you are swimming against the tide. most see Myko as a horrible player with an incredibly low ceiling. and we have struggled for 4 years with him occupying the position. time to try something new. Anzou has played LB throughout his career, the position is not foreign to him.

Agree with this. He won the penalty and looked lively but he was extremely naive and gave the ball away a lot. People are just desperate.

He can have that opinion about Aznou's physicality, but Mykolenko's (also not that strong, tall or pacey) complete lack of technical ability doesn't seem to be a problem. Why is one trade-off acceptable and the other not?

Because keeping clean sheets is easier than scoring goals. Clean sheets win us points. Patterson is our best attacking right back but we would win less points with him playing there than JOB.

Isnt it funny that he clearly was looking like he could hack the pace and physicality against larger players.

Wingers are typically not as big and strong as those he faced today. Not sure why he couldnt be a left back if its physicality.

Anyway from Moyes comments he's the future left back with Mykolenko rotating.

No new left back incoming which im fine with.

He was playing with a left back behind him mate. Completely different if you are one v one with a strong quick winger or if you are defending headers at the back post. Even the great Leighton Baines used to get bullied occasionally at left back.

So he should play instead of Grealish? I’m assuming a Moyes is worried that if he play left back a strong quick winger will annihilate him. For all Myko’s flaws (and I can’t wait to replace him) he is defensively solid and if we keep clean sheets we have a chance of winning points.

Give him 20 mins when Grealish is tired

Move Grealish to the middle and give him 20 mins

Anything to get him some mins, learn more that way than watching from the sidelines and playing in the reserves

We could also experiment with a back three and give Aznou minutes at LWB. Would need Garner pulling out of position as he's the only one in the squad capable of playing RWB but when everyone is fit/available we have cover in CM.

It shouldn't be baffling.

Mykolenko and Grealish are two names Moyes puts on the team sheet without thinking each week.

He should have at least been handed more sub appearances this season when we're chasing games like today.

Moyes knows best though. He needs to play five more years with the U21 team and to 'bulk up'.
