Aaron Lennon ( On Loan January 2015 )

How much would you pay for Lennon in the Summer

  • Up to the rumoured 6 or 7 million - worth every penny

  • No more than 5 million - he's OK, but not worth any more

  • No more than 3 million - he's got no end product ffs

  • Wouldn't take him on a free, he's badly gash

  • Stop asking me questions and stick the grill on

I know you're reserved here...fair do's...he's had a propensity of being lacking in the final third in his career.

That said, hasn't he been a difference maker for us? Sadly I/we might have to admit he's been our best player at the end of the day.

He's not as good as the English media tried to make him when he was younger, but he's far better than what a lot would like to frame him as. He makes us better...
The way he's played for us has reassured me a lot on that front, even if he himself isn't getting the goals/assists (which he currently is anyway) you can see how we benefiit from his pace in setting off in attack, his clever movement into space and his defensive work. He's made me smile in a season with far too little of it - being vertically challenged myself love it when he wins a header for instance ;)

The reservation I still have is largely about something Lennon can't control - if we sign him and keep the others he'll be one of 4 wingers 28 or over, Mirallas/Pienaar very injury prone, Mirallas/McGeady erratic and with few youngsters in the academy. If we sign Lennon I'll probably have to give up my dream of Deulofeu coming back :p

Our plan for summer should be:
1. say bye to Atsu
2. say bye to Lennon and tell him that we will buy him later in the summer (it is not the Everton way to pay wages for the players we decide to buy after their loan ends!)
3. sell McGeady
4. sign Konoplyanka
5. sign Bakkali
6. buy Lennon
7. loan Bakkali to another PL team

Our wingers: Konoplyanka, Lennon, Mirallas, Pienaar

The next summer Pienaar leaves us after his contract ends, Bakkali takes his place in wingers rotation. If Mirallas goes, buy Deulofeu then. Every Evertonian happy. Make it happen Bobby lid.

Sounds like a plan.

It won't happen, like.

What I like about him is the way he stretches teams with his pace. Not the best crosser of the Ball but Bobby has realised this by playing him much more central. His pace creates more space for the other attacking players. Something we have missed badly all season.

Aaron Lennon is Everton's new Gerard Deulofeu says Seamus Coleman

SEAMUS COLEMAN believes Aaron Lennon has made a similar impact at Everton as Gerard Deulofeu did last season.

The speedy wideman is on loan from Spurs and continued his rich vein of form with an excellent performance in the win over Burnley on Saturday.

Coleman has relished playing on the same flank as Lennon because of his tireless work-rate and pace and trickery going forward.

And the Republic of Ireland international says Lennon’s influence on the team has mirrored that of Deulofeu’s after the young Barcelona winger spent last term on loan at Goodison.

“He’s an unbelievable lad, first and foremost, he works his socks off coming back and going forward,” Coleman said.

“Since he has come to the club he has been one of our best performers and he is a great lad and we’re all happy to see him doing well.

“It is a bit like Gerry last year, he’s a fast winger and sometimes you have just got to get the ball out of your feet and get the ball to him as quickly as possible.

“And sometimes he opens up space for me because defenders are worried about him. We have got a lot of good wingers here fighting for places.”

Funny how Lennon was always one of the names wheeled out when talking about how crap Sterling is going to be.

Still not sure about the rumoured price, especially when his best attribute has been workrate - something which could easily drop once he gets himself a long-term deal.

I do like him, though. He did brilliantly to pick out McCarthy with a pull-back yesterday.

Its it me or is Lennon faster then Sterling

He's a good all round footballer with one exceptional weapon. Exactly the kind of player you need if you want to have a nice squad.

You're an exceptional weapon chico you flan.
