A rabbit in the head lights

Can see your point, yet Distin had two fairly decent chances to clear the ball, which he failed on both occasions, that too cannot be denied .

In my opinion Distin has to start the derby ahead of Heitinga to counter Suarez,s pace. We seen at wigan how exposed we were to the quick counter against a fast attack. If Heitinga plays the RS will look to get the ball forward down the channels early to expose johnny.

Are you insane? Maybe Distin isn't David Beckham but he wins headers and moves like a Ferrari with the strength of a tank. Plus it wasn't his clearance which led to Pienaar being put in an 'awkward' position. Baines played a ball to his feet and instead of getting hold of it Pienaar tried to spin Bosingwa which didn't work.

Heitinga's severe lack of pace costs us more than anything IMO.
I was thinking this when I read the OP. Thought Pienaar got caught waiting for the ball to come and Bosingwa anticipated it.

Got three solid CB's. Rotate 'em if needed.

Right now I'm fine with Jags and Distin until I'm fine with Jags and Heitinga until I'm fine with Distin and Heitinga.

Play JH who looks so slow as him treading water at Wigan for their 2nd goal he was subbed - I feel Duffy should be now introduced in lesser games - he played 5-6 last season never put a foot wrong MOTM in 2-3 = got dropped! DM has to grow some balls & start him soon! Duffy & Jags would be an ideal central pairing giving us Hieght at the back something we lack!

he was awful vs liverpool.
I watched the game back today thinking it may have just been the bits I picked up from the game, but the video confirmed how poor he was.
On the decline or in poor form?

we looked better without him today.
I am convinced he is past his best, not his fault, but sooner or later it happens to someone of his age.

I don't know how he suddenly turns past it in a few months. Honestly.

Does anyone else think that the rotation at CB we've had may be leaving Heitinga and Distin rusty? Although the revolving door worked somewhat last year when Jagielka came back - but that was because Heitinga was great.

I'm not ready to make these grand statements on players (minus Neville), so I'm looking for other reasons. Maybe there's a bit of "who's playing next to Jags" fatigue?
