Distin with Jags look balanced, Jags seems to play better with a left footer next to him. I also rate Distin, I think he is a great CB.

Who's reffing, if it's Webb then leave Heitinga out, on the basis that Howard Webb has a greater vendetta against John Heitinga than he does against 'them' and lets face it Mr Fergooson will be wanting us pegged back more than 'them.'

I thought Distin was decent yesterday, frankly much more worried about Seamus that had a tendency to get committed to silly/easy challenges in defence, and at a couple of occasions stormed forward without aim or cover behind him. If Hibbo is fit i'd have him at RB for the derby.
As for replacing Pienaar, i'd hope we get Felli or Gibson back in CM (preferrably both) and put Osman - Mirallas - Naismith/Anichebe behind Jelavic.

distin was always a stop gap signing who will never be as good as lescott was (for us), its pretty normal for a 35 year old to be feeling the strain at this level

The reason Distin got a recall is because Johnny was extremely poor against wigan, I have no problem players getting dropped if they are not playing well, why the same doesn't apply to midfield is baffling.

As for Coleman looking shifty as well from my point of view it's down to the central midfield of Ossie and Nev the are being pulled all over the shop but not doing anything in particular and leaving gaping holes which exploit our back four.

You can't expect to let teams have wave after wave of attack running straight through the midfield and expect the defence never to make mistakes.

The worrying thing is for me that it's Wigan and QPR that have destroyed our powder puff midfield and unless changes are made I'm dreading playing the more clinical attacking sides.

Thought the whole defence, with the exception of jags, were painfully slow at clearing the ball yesterday. I imagine the slippery conditions had a lot to do with it.

Good point the centre of midfield is extremly weak with no gibbo or screech.
Moyes should have brought in cover there,to play neville and osman in the centre weakens us all over the pitch.
Bad management that by moyes

Not sure whether Distin is showing his age or not he just hasn't looked as assured this season as he has in previous ones .

I don't think any of our centre halves have been great this season, although hopefully Jags is just coming into some form at the moment, more performances from him like yesterday would do nicely.

Are you insane? Maybe Distin isn't David Beckham but he wins headers and moves like a Ferrari with the strength of a tank. Plus it wasn't his clearance which led to Pienaar being put in an 'awkward' position. Baines played a ball to his feet and instead of getting hold of it Pienaar tried to spin Bosingwa which didn't work.

Heitinga's severe lack of pace costs us more than anything IMO.
