there's no money in the Europa league, and its highly unlikely we'd win it....more importantly, we don't have the squad to cope with the extra games (it was a blessing for liverpool not having europa league football this year, and its showing in their league campaign....it's also impacted badly on clubs like Newcastle last season, and Spurs this year who have lost most of their sunday games following a europa league game...... and us back in 2005/6 when we dropped from 4th one year to 11th the next, and were near the bottom for half that season)....

our squad is too small to chase too many targets....and if we chase the europa, i guarantee you we can forget about challenging the top 4 next season....so if we do get it, we should use it as an opportunity to play the kids & squad players....

No offence, but I straight up think this a terrible post.

We want to win any competition we are in. I look at the teams left in the EL and I don't see anything that would terrify this current Everton let alone one with a full season under its belt with our new boss and hopefully major recruitment in the summer.

I personally think we are capable of either but I'm sure some would argue it would be easier to win the EL than crack the top 4.

I certainly don't think of what money we can win when we play a football match either.

As for that season we dropped to 11th correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we only have 4 games in Europe? Narrow defeat to Villarreal and then the collapse against Bucharest??

I really miss watching us play Benfica, Fiorentina etc. Don't see why anyone wouldn't want them nights back.

Yes getting beat 9-0 by Benfica was awesome, as well as losing on pens to Florentina.

The Europa league sucks, you play loads of crap teams from everywhere then just as you think you can win it, Bamm 4 CL teams arrives in it and knock you out, only the team knocked out the CL will win it as they have much bigger budgets.
I get the wanting to be in Europe but for me it's CL or non, waste of time for very little cash, 4th will get 60mil just for being in CL if we won Europa we get what 15 if that

Also if u take spurs look at them, spent 100mil and still no closer to 4th, Europa league is a league killer, should be played in Wednesday as no one watches it anyway

I really think Arsenal will come tumbling down a bit over the next month or so. 4/5th is very much still within our reach.

I've been going the game since 2000 and probably the best atmosphere I have experienced at Goodison was the Fiorentina game. I ended up about 10 rows further forward when Arteta scored, Can't imagine what it would have been like if we won. I'm all for it. Plus with a bit of luck in the draw, 2nd legs at home etc, I honestly think we would have a better chance of getting in the Champions league by winning the Europa next season than finishing fourth. We all know we can beat anyone on our day. Especially at Goodison.

Arsenal play Chelsea and spurs away and city at home next 3 games.
we play Cardiff and Swansea at home and Fulham away.
Then we play them at home. And we have a game in hand at home to palace. Won't be easy but it's definitely possible.

I see getting into the CL pushed Spurs into the elite league. Full of World Class players, winning cup after cup. Gaining millions and millions of fans world wide!!!!!!!!!

Dont beleive the hype.....

That fixture list is more brutal than our combo of rs, villa, spurs, chelsea tbh and theirs a realistic chance they could come out with 0-1 points from 4 games, spurs and us will close the gap, by how much is down to us winning games were expected to though. Chance is their just have to perform and crank the pressure on arsenal over the next month starting this weekend

Have this horrid feeling spurs will bottle the derby though when a spurs win or draw would suit us better

Yeah, I agree that CL football isn't the magical recipe for world domination like some might have you believe. However, no matter where it got them in the long run, I imagine the Spurs fans got some absolutely cracking experiences and memories from their brief stint in the competition, and isn't that kind of what it's all about? I mean, imagine just one "European night" under the floodlights, Goodison Park roaring and bursting in its seams, and our eleven blue boys taking on Bayern Munich or Real Madrid...

No, its not about getting drunk, and singing in a nice European city centre, unless it means winning a trophy.

How small time does it make us look, telling of your greatest memories, finishing 3rd of a group of 4. While winning a meaningless game in Milan or Germany or some Spanish City......pass me the champaign.

Now ask your red mates to tell you of their greatest footballing days ....
