Cringing at this. Why not just finish as high up the league as possible at get their on merit.

The fact we don't have a squad capable of competing in Europe yet, or a recognised striker either.

We would be in it on merit. The rules allow for 5th, 6th and 7th place entrants into Europe in the event of certain outcomes. It's always like this. We merit a place for being in pole position to take up a qualification place when it becomes available.

well you get my point, we must treat the europa league like the league cup, or it will cost us big time in the league next season.....

Don't understand this at all.

We haven't won a trophy in 20 years almost. We have finished a little lower down the league some seasons than we are used to, and we come back up.

THe Europa League gives you the chance for some cracking ties against very good opposition around Europe, the League Cup doesn't. It also gives the winner a Champions League place.

We wont self destruct if we push hard in some cups, our squad gets tired and we drop a couple of league places.

I'm always negative. I like the suspense. Genuinely would laugh if Kone came back and was bashing then in from everywhere.

If two CL teams contest the FA Cup final (ie City v Arsenal), I think I am right in thinking that 7th place then also gets Europe. But lets not dwell on that scenario....let's beat Arsenal, then whoever, then whoever....and WE'VE won the Cup!!

Might as well have a go in it as next years winners of the Europa league get Champions league

....and prize money is significantly increased. UEFA have taken measures this year (implemented next season) to increase the profile (and value) of the Europa

In that case, good news. Although I imagine we would have to go through qualifying rounds. But, still, we are club that needs to be in Europe. I still think we will finish 5th though

As an aside, at the comparable number of games played last season, we had 42 points...we are over 14% better off this year. That's pretty good to my mind
