This. The first priority should be to create a squad which is capable of winning games on a regular basis, competing in games against the 'Sky 6' and making a serious go of getting a regular european place and competing within that competition. Only then do we need to worry about getting 60k in the stadium. Let's make the team competitive first.

People banging on about atmosphere, Goodisons atmosphere is garbage these days so why is 52k suddenly going to turn it into a bear pit?

Oh and Arsenal and City have won trophies in their soul-less grounds whilst we have won zilch in the last 2 decades.

Never understood this building with possible expansion.

Not if you build it with the base and facilities to take the extra 10k
It’s like building a single storey garage but having the foundations and wall strong enough to take a second storey
Plus having plumbing and electrics ready to go for extension

We're told we have a 10K waiting list on season tickets which I think are capped at 32/33K at Goodison,I think as a starting base for a new stadium for ourselves that figure will be just about right, suck it and see then as regards increasing, doesn't sound NSNO I know but it is quite practical.

I think it’s a smart decision to go for 52k seats.

It’s better to have a full stadium than one that’s 15% empty, and the stadium will be built in a way so that the least amount of construction work will be required if and when it comes to it. It’s not like Anfield where they had to completely rebuild a stand.

The Juventus Stadium has a bear pit atmosphere & it only holds 41K.

52K close to the pitch in a state of the art, unique, riverside location will be simply awesome.
