Dont think so. Here's another official photo. View attachment 352065
That first pic looks more like a ball has been photo-shopped out.The one at Billy Wright's feet looks photo-shopped...it's certainly not replacing a trophy like!

We are very fortunate us lads over 60 (you are just a whipersnapper Matty) we have actually seen us constantly win things with a very good team indeed. I just wish them days would come back for all the younger Blues and especially for my 2 lads who are both in there 20's !!

Nah, he's saying ''someone's nicked my 'kin watch''.Honestly thought he was holding a cat at first in the 81 team phito.

The lost & found watch story reminded me of my 'Bob Latchford' day.
I was 15 at the time and had a 'Ground' season ticket which, some oldies may recall, allowed you entry into either the Street or Park end. More often than not, I opted to go into the Park end and fondly remember running the gauntlet of quite a few away followings but, other than a few choice insults, never had any bother - a young innocent face and a look of being scared shitless probably helped me remain unscathed!
My next birthday was just a few weeks away and I'd badgered my old mum to buy me one of those new fangled digital watches, steel casing and steel link bracelet with a clasp fastening on it - very cool in it's day. It was from a jewellers on County Rd and mum had paid instalments (bless her) for it to be collected by me that very Saturday but NOT to be worn under any circumstances before my birthday. Which I obviously and foolishly ignored.
For this game though, me and my mate Joe chose the Street end and got in nice and early after my shopping trip for a spec at the front, so we were in a great position to see the penalty and most of the goals (4 at that end, I think). I remember the surreal disappointment of Mick Lyons scoring instead of the Latch and then the euphoria minutes later of being awarded a penalty, knowing quite well who was going to be taking it. We never had any doubt about the outcome because Bob had a great 'net buster blammo' penalty taking technique. I heard that wonderful noise of the ball hitting the net and, as the whole place erupted, the crowd surged forward, sideways, in circles, backwards and forwards again. Me and Joe were hugging, and being hugged by, countless of fellow Blues, all screaming and cheering for Big Bob's 30th!
When the madness had calmed down a bit, Joe said to me "Where's your watch?" and to my horror it was no longer on my wrist. I scanned the floor, expecting it to be gone for good but miraculously found it again about 20 feet away, on the bottom step and in amongst the puddles of warm ale, piss and half eaten hotdogs. Thankfully, it was undamaged except for a scratch on the face which fondly reminded me of the day for years after.
What a time to be alive![]()
Was @Kev The Rat with you by any chance? Did you both take a few blows to the head?Park End season ticket gate was helpfully placed by the club at the away end and as a kid of about 12 I was kicked and punched all over the shop by West Ham fans - who all seemed to be wearing Fords Dagenham donkey jackets strangely enough. For some reason I never bore a grudge against West Ham.
