NSNO my butthole. Everything about the club is mediocre, and truth be told the last trophy we won was against huge odds and we have been on a downward spiral ever since the EPL was established.

It isn't just about money. We've let standards slip so far and have no idea how to turn it around. The only way to get through to those who matter is to vote with your feet. If Man U or Arsenal served up the dross we see week in week out they wouldn't even fill 10 seats.

23 years without a trophy.1 trophy win in 30 years. It is a sad state of affairs indeed.Hopefully better times are on the way.Once Sam Allardyce is given the boot.

Bellew winning the WBC at goodison is as close as we will ever get to another trophy . And he didn’t have the bottle to defend that himself.

I was 15 when Paul Rideout nodded home (how did Stuart miss) to beat Utd in the 1995 FA Cup final. Since then it's been nothing short of a Shakespearean tragedy with multiple cases of soiling the bed at every possible cup winning opportunity. Such instances as the Distin backpass, the Wigan horror show and general disintegration when the chips are down (Chelsea 08 & 09, Utd & City 2016).

People talk about us still being a big club. 9 league titles. 5 FA Cups. That European cup they don't do anymore. Some charity shields. League cup finalist. Simod Cup runners up. The John Stones Panenka trophy....

Lads let's be honest. We're not at the races anymore. Haven't been for a long time. Since 87 we haven't even been involved in a league title challenge. And as for the Heysel issue, oh yeah we would've won the big cup easily. Really? Ok fair enough all the British teams were peaking in European competition then. But how are Villa or Forest faring these days? Doesn't guarantee longevity does it. We've been fortunate to just hang about the top flight like some permanent innocuous background fixture. Once on the coat tails of the top four, we're not even within touching distance of the top 6.

We moaned about lack of investment. "We can't compete with the big spenders" who simply buy the league. Well firstly Leicester managed to buck that trend and secondly we finally have no excuses about money. Imagine last summer being told in the midst of our ill fated spending spree, that we'd be languishig in the bottom half of the table without a spine and under the guidance of Sam Allardyce. It's an absolute shambles.

So what happens next? Complete and utter implosion, relegation and rebirth? More of the same "close but no cigar" and knive to a gunfight attitude? Or can we finally break free of our dire inferiority complex and give our long suffering fans something to be proud of again?

Personally I think we're currently suffering an identity crisis and at a real crossroads in terms of our future. The backroom staff and at least 50% of the squad needs replacing. We need to bring back a winning mentality and re-establish some kind of credibility. How that is done, I don't have the answers but a proper plan needs to be put in place. A shake up of some kind. Fcuk knows we've endured enough. If Everton were a friend/partner/wife we'd have ditched them long ago...

COYB.

You were going well, until that last sentence!I would have to strongly disagree with the bit in bold.

Was talking to that guy that has come back from the future and can confirm that we will win feck all up to the year 2030,but we do get the go ahead to start building the new stadium at Bramley-Moore dock in 2031 ,so not all bad !!

It's really sad when you think of how many League Cups or FA Cups we could have won in that time, if our managers had played full strength teams and had just a little more luck along the way.
Teams that are far below us these days have contested cup finals; Portsmouth, Millwall and Wigan spring to mind.
A cup win can be such a springboard to push a club on.
A higher priority being given to both cups from Smith and Moyes, to name but two, could have made such a difference.
Just imagine if Watford 1984 hadn't happened!
Since 95 the following clubs have won a domestic cup:
Villa
Spurs
Leicester
Middlesbrough
Blackburn
Birmingham
Swansea
Portsmouth
Wigan

IMO nothing will change until we have a new stadium. Goodison has been a wonderful home but we should have served it notice 20 years ago.

I remember 1983 when people were in utter despair (remember 6 wins from first 21 games) and saying that we would never again win a trophy.
Remember the "Kendall out" chants echoing around the half empty terracing?
Well if the next seasons taught me anything, it was that when change happens it can happen quick.
I know that if I was to say "we'll win something in the next two years" lids would be phoning for the men in the white coats.
I'm certainly not saying that. What I am saying is that nobody can predict the future, so I would never give up hope.
I'm familiar with the "It's the hope that kills you" shouts. Fact is, if you really, truly have no hope, then you might just as well be dead.
