Can't say that I'm looking forward to the WC this year like I always have previously. Its no doubt partly down to the fact that I've never disliked the sport more then I do right now but the whole vibe in general just feels a bit off for me this year.

I think the bigger factor then was the 24 team field with 16 advancing to the knockouts. The group stage was dreadfully dull.

I thought group stages of 94 world cup very entertaining , a lot more goals than italia 90 which was defensive with backpasses back to keeper very popular. Couldnt do this in world cup 94 made for more goals.

Had world cups in italy 38 with mussolini in charge, 1978 in argentina with miltary in charge torturing and killing people at same time as world cup was taking place, 2018 world cup in 2018 in russia years after putin invaded crimean region and parts of georgia and dodgy putin dictator, 2022 in qatar with human rights violations , i say past form is fairly consistent fifa dont care about dictatorships or human rights
