Current Affairs 2024 POTUS race

Considering how tight election were in 2020 despite everything and current image of Biden, i'm not so sure.
If democrats were smarter they would gone with someone younger and fresh and not this ancient vegetable.
Well that's all water under the bridge now. Virtually no Democrat wanted Biden even back in 2020. But that's who we got.

Same with now. The DNC believes he's the guy to defeat Trump, again. Trump has done virtually nothing to get new people to come and vote for him. So it all comes down to the same thing as 2020 - will voter turnout be strong again. And I believe it will be.

If it's not and we get Trump, well this country will get what we deserve.

No the point being if Russia makes a break through then its a failure that Trump can genuinely hammer Biden on and use his "I'll end the war on day one" schtik.

If he lets Ukraine loose to start hitting Russian troops grouping up over the border its, ok not a win for Biden, but not a loss.

I just think the WH have got the calculations wrong on this.
If Russia make a break through, that's literally what the GOP is running on - essentially, who cares about Ukraine?

So no, I don't see this being an issue for Biden

Do you think those younger voters will be angry enough to abstain when they know there is a fairly good chance that puts Trump in the White House? Which will probably be worse for Gaza than even Biden has been.
Unfortunately, yeah. Obviously not in all cases but in enough to make a difference.
Look at that Macklemore video. "fxxx no I wont vote for you in November".

Biden has tried to play both sides in the hopes that it would go away but it hasn't.
Through work I deal a bit with college campuses and there is a very strong feeling that Biden isnt listening.
There are plenty in blue states saying that their vote doesn't count so they cant, in good concience, vote for Biden. I get that.
Unfortunately that sentiment is contagious and Biden is doing absolutely nothing about it.

The more he comes out and says whats happening is not genocide, the more votes he loses.

There are other factors hampering Bidens run but he needs the same numbers he got in 2020 and I just dont see how he gets it.

The verdict from the Stormy Daniels trial will be huge, a hung jury and we're done.

There was no 2020 euphoria.

Only overwhelming relief.

And that'll be the way it is again this November, no matter what the polling says. No one that didn't vote for Trump in 2020 is going to vote for him in 2024. His only chance is if people don't vote. As we get closer to November, and Trump does even more and more Trumpian things, it'll wake everyone up again.
right, and that comes down to a few thousand people in 5 swing states.

This is what’s so frustrating about all the people saying they’re either sitting this election out or voting third party in protest of how Biden has handled the situation. They either flat out don’t understand how the American electoral system works, or can’t see the forest for the trees.

If they don’t like how Biden has handled it, they’re REALLY going to hate what Trump does if given the opportunity. This election will hinge entirely on Democratic turnout, so doing anything other than showing up in November and voting for Biden, regardless of your misgivings, is IMO being complicit in making things even worse in Gaza.

I couldn’t agree more the choice is Biden or trump , people have to pick a side . Otherwise if trump wins and becomes even more extreme people have to live with the fact they’ve facilitated it . Inaction and handwringing has consequences

I sat 2016 out. I could sit this one out. My vote is wasted. I live in America. My opinion is irrelevant.

I won't sit this one out. I might protest vote at 40/60, and be first in line against the wall when the revolution comes, but first they do have to catch me.

You could sit the POTUS election out given where you live.

But more and more it's the downballot stuff that matters as well

He will get it because people know the horror show that is Trump. Biden has his issues but I firmly believe people will wake up in time about Trump.

At least that's what I have to believe, b/c we are royally screwed if that's not the case

Yeah, Im with you.
They need to hammer home the threat to womens reproductive rights.
Hopefully get the likes of Liz Cheeney and maybe Romney on board.
And get Obama out and working hard in places like NC.

Be really interesting to see how the first debate goes. Only weeks away now. Will Trump even show?

Another absolute coward who ultimately decides to kiss the ring for their own good.

Maintain its telling that if the Dems spent the last 4 years readying a candidate that wasn’t Biden, that entire Haley base would have guaranteed the election for them. As it is, it’s a coin flip.

Trump will show because of hubris and the fact that he thinks he has an advantage in a debate setting. Biden will show because he really needs a win. If he didn’t, I doubt he’d agree to a debate in the first place. It’ll be a disaster and I probably won’t watch either way. Biden, if he doesn’t have a blunder where he loses his train of thought mid sentence has more to gain imo.

No doubt. Zero percent I'll be watching either. It'll be awful for the whole country if this "debate" actually happens.

I can't even hear the sound of Trump's voice without flying into a rage, and my wife and I absolutely refuse to watch any Biden speech because 1) he was a terrible speaker even in the best of times and 2) He's now 200 years old
