I'm at peace with it all actually at this point. Watch it burn from an economy and social programs perspective. Fight back on crazy stuff like RFK in the FDA and anything this Administration would do to get us closer to nuclear war.Whilst I'm sure there will be some big regressive headlines coming and people's lives being truly affected by Trump's victory, what's immediately disheartening is the sheer volume of small unkindnesses that people whose hate has been validated want to randomly visit on others in the wake of this.
Wednesday morning I was trying to avoid political news after seeing which way things were heading, so decided to stick with some hobby sites, totally apolitical stuff. First comment on the first article: "Cope harder sugartits! Suck it Puerto Rico!". It's like Government by 4chan.
A breakdown of empathy plus a willingness from the masses to avoid being targets themselves doesn't lead to anything positive. We've seen this before, but never turbocharged by the internet. Unfortunately for a lot of people, "the internet" is basically just their socials, and as such have been captured nearly entirely.
I’m not sure they’re capable of learning. They’ll just blame the Democrats, immigrants, trans people, or whatever new boogeyman they conjure over the next four years.I'm at peace with it all actually at this point. Aside from the financially secure Trump voter, they're about to find out what Trumpism means.
Gotta learn at some point

I gave him the benefit of the doubt last week. He even dm'd me thanking him for it. I apologise. It is a pro Russia, pro Putin account and always follows lines to support this - even though there are attempts to disguise the intent, its generally clear enough.
Same as farage, same as people who side with Israel, same with ‘anyone but libtards’ they are all bigots whether they realise it not, it is their driving factorI see lots of people online saying 'not all trump voters are bigots' and the kind part of my brain says this is almost certainly true but then the rational part kicks in and tells me that whilst they may not say bigoted stuff themselves they are obviously apathetic towards voting for a bigot, which IMO isn't that much better than being an actual bigot.
Of course, there is a chance that some of them are such massive rubes or so disassociated with politics that over the past 8 years they have somehow managed to not realise that Trump is a bigot. Hard to imagine but its America so perhaps it's not so hard to imagine![]()
