I also think we need a hard border with Canada. It's all good controlling immigration from the Southern border but something may have to be done with the Northern border as well in about 10 years time.

As a Californian the cynic in me says this is as much about Newsom positioning himself for 2028 as a genuine "let's protect people".

We've got our own issues as a state (eg cost of housing) that he'd do better focusing on rather than what on the surface seem more like pr stunts.

Interesting, I had thought the general feeling was still behind Israel. It still unfortunately wasn't important enough for either party to take a position against Israel and I highly doubt it will.

Even all of our Canadian political parties are falling in line and I can't see it being an issue that moves the needle here neither.

Tend to think this too. Quite remarkable how many dems ditched Harris. 15 million votes less than Biden. Thats insane numbed that. But ofcourse it's possible that people just saw how horrible candidate she was.
