Current Affairs 2024 POTUS race

I think it particularly noticeable for people in certain states like mine (CA) and yours.

Something like 5% of Ca population is undocumented.

The vast majority are just trying to make a living, own property and businesses, pay taxes/rent/mortgages, have US citizen kids/married to US citizens, go to church, help out in the community etc.

So if Cali a undoubted Dem state is completely fine with it being ran on the backs of illegal workers, why is that ok ?

Do they get paid less, do they have less rights, do they have pensions, healthcare, sick pay , a contract, why are you ok with this?

If not are you actually doing a thing to highlight it? Say in comparison to complaining about trump etc

And how is this not completely abusing people in a huge way...

Who said it was OK? I have consistently voted, at both local and federal level for the representatives that actually want to tackle the issue, to ensure fair wages and protection from abuse by employers, to provide work visas, a pathway to citizenship etc, etc etc.

Trump and the GOP are none of those things!

This is why I'm asking if it's illegal (I thought it was?), it's being talked about like it's a necessity?

It sounds to me like exploitation of desperation.

But with a democratic president a dem senator and a dem congressman, has anything changed in the regards to the illegal workers

I'll hold my hands up mate, the same thing happens here, the guys who fix the roads, the guys who do the shitty jobs, they are from the eastern regions or usually from immigrants - same in the army btw - do I think it's good, hell no.

Historically it's a pattern mate, once the populace reaches a certain level of comfort nobody wants or will do those jobs

Some, not enough in my view
In a major reversal since the 1990s, California has opened up government programs to undocumented residents more than any other state — issuing driver’s licenses, college scholarships, low-income tax credits, direct cash aid during the pandemic and now Medi-Cal health coverage. In 2025 California will be the first state to issue food stamps to undocumented immigrants, allowing those 55 and older to qualify.
..
California has worked around limits in federal law that bar many immigrants – those with and without legal status – from social programs. That has meant building its own, state-funded programs during years of flush budget surpluses.

But this year, lawmakers and Gov. Gavin Newsom had to plug a $31.5 billion deficit.

Did anything change under Trump? Obama? Bush? Clinton. Etc.

That's a long term issue that's just not been addressed.

Trump says an awful lot, but does get deliver?
