Current Affairs 2024 POTUS race

This is exactly why the Democrats lost. They'll never win an election without support and votes from anyone outside the hardcore bubble with attitudes like this.
No shot. The reason they lost is because they pandered to the whims of a man who was blatantly too old back in 2020, didn’t pressure him to step down after his first term, then had Harris run an absolutely dreadful campaign where she shifted to the right to try and capture so called “moderate republicans” while absolutely ignoring the democratic base.

How do ‘reasonable’ (and I use that term loosely) politicians compete with populism which thrives when the economy is bad, the world is in tatters and people are looking for someone to blame? I don’t know where they go from here.
I'm not sure mate. I'm not trying to be the oracle who has all the answers. I'm just saying that dismissing great swaths of potential voters as idiots (or "fat [Poor language removed] cheeseheads" like the guy in the video said) who are unworthy of time and attention whilst refusing to acknowledge any responsibility from the Democrats hierarchy for their endless list of blunders is a bad idea.

I agree with that, although I just think America is way more divided now than it has been. There are increasingly fewer swing/floating voters as, like shown in that video, emotions and ideology becomes even more divided.

But Trump won (twice) despite much more serious character traits than ‘laughing like a giddy schoolgirl’.

I have no great interest in US politics mate, I’m only in here because it happens to be newsworthy today.

However, in the world of politics, just like in other managerial jobs (such as football managers) being an arse with a backbone is far more sought after than being a giggling schoolgirl.

It wasn’t a Love Island popularity contest; it was a competition to see who would be in charge of a juggernaut like the USA.

I think your view is very dependent on the gender of the candidate.

Was listening to a vox pop with a 19 year old US guy who is studying in Ireland. He said he supported Biden in 2020 but since going to University and being more aware of critical thinking he voted for Trump.

He was asked about where he gets his news from and his general views etc. I thought it was really interesting that he got his news and current affairs from people like Charlie Kirk and didn't watch any traditional (for want of a better word) media.

God was the most important thing to him also.

Democrats have a massive massive job to try and get these people back. My own kids do not listen to or watch any radio/TV. It's solely Internet media and Spotify etc. I don't think we're really prepared to the pace of change in the age of information that is happening.

Social media is the new tobacco/heroin.
Catholics were actually a big reason why Trump did very well in PA. One of the key reasons why Biden will well in these rust belt states is because he painted himself as the "white working class Irish Catholic" in states like PA, MI and WA and he was able to get those votes.

I genuinely believe Biden was the perfect antidote to Trump and no other Dem candidate would've beat Trump that year.

From about 40m 30 secs If anyone is interested. I misheard the first time, he act didn't vote but supports Trump

Must be a huge number of similar stories

Do we have a list of celebs that promised to leave the country if Trump wins? State of them preaching to working class people for their vote.

Not sure I saw any that did say that?

I saw a few videos where American citizens who happen to have a celebrity status were using their position to voice their opinion. Happened on both sides, unless you missed the bit where Hulk Hogan ripped his shirt off or Kid Rock performed?

Not really mate, I despise Thatcher, but she came across as a serious politician, Harris came across like she'd been at the sherry before going on camera. It may go down well on an episode of loose women but not as president elect.

Not that I think Trump is at all presidential himself btw, but Harris comes across awfully and the people seem to think so too.

The voice of the American people has been heard. Praying for a prosperous future for some of my closest buddies over there - and they aren't surprised at this result at all. A great victory speech too by Trump, very calm and reassuring that he'll work for all Americans. I predicted at least 290 and looks like it was spot on. What an utter travesty it would have been to have a fraud like Harris in office.
How exactly do you square this with the fact that less than two weeks ago he said he wanted to use the American military to deal with his political enemies?

I guess that's initially what Kamala and co thought, hence their bare-faced lies for several years covering up his mental capacity.

Looks like a majority of the country doesn't like having the piss taken out of them.

Additionally, on a separate note, the fact she knew from polls that around 75% of people thought the country is going in the wrong direction then still said she wouldn't have done anything different to Biden is LOL.

The woman is a certified bone brain.

I don’t think it is. The giggling schoolgirl comments could never have been made about the likes of Thatcher or even Theresa May, and that’s because neither of them presented as giggling schoolgirls.

Liz Truss was vilified to max, but nobody ever accused her of being a giggling schoolgirl, because she didn’t present that way.

The reason Kamala has been compared to a giggling schoolgirl is because of her tendency to giggle like a schoolgirl. It’s really nothing more than that.
