It will be at a base level that people may start to realise what they have done.

The shopper who goes to the store and realises what the tariffs have done to their weekly shop. The early 20s guy thinking that he is invincible suddenly having to pay more than he earns on paying for a child that he didn't want right now.

My wife just summed up the situation, she said that America was in its 'bratty' years, being a young country. Something bad would have to happen to shock it into adulthood, it was just hoped it wouldn't happen in our lifetime.

Obviously the hope is that we are being over dramatic here but there are some things that he said and if they are put in place that country will be a dangerous place to live and speak freely.

Went to bed enjoying the thoughts that the dems were going to pull this off. Resisted the urge to check a couple of times in the night. Just turned phone on for the good news, then hit with this.

It's a bit of a weird one. He has made it clear he hates electric cars, but his new BFF owns Tesla. Will be interesting to see how that one plays out

Both are equally ludicrous. The idea that young US voters are very animated about Isreal/Gaza is beyond parody - on university campuses? Maybe. Everywhere else? No.

That is not what I said, though. The content that the people who probably gave Trump this victory consume is much more open about that conflict and the nature of the US response to it than the traditional media is. They might not be very animated about Gaza, but the genocide is something which can be used to push other lines (Israeli control of US politics for example) that got them to vote for Trump.

Absolutely, and a lot of that was so they wouldn't have to develop or implement policies that affected their own comfortable lives. They are one of the big problems with politics globally.
