Fair, that's an outsider's perspective looking in. People who are voting should know this though, and sadly politics is more about populism than ever.

There is not a single Trump voter who is voting on policy that I know. They may be voting on ideas of what they think his policies might do, like they might think he's going to lower inflation or end immigration or whatever, but they definitely don't know what he's actually planning on doing. Tbf in a lot of cases neither does Trump.

The only place this basically applies is abortion. The hardcore abortion people are voting on those policies. But that is far from the majority of his support.

Nothing is as powerful a force as inflation. Of course the fixes aren't magic, and the candidate that people seem to think will fix it is proposing to do things the make it worse. But none of that matters. Groceries and fast food cost more so vote for the other guy.

The economy isn't even bad right now. That's what sucks. Sure inflation is rough but it isn't bad all things considered.

Inflation was lower there than every other western nation too.
They must be the most ill informed electorate in all democratic countries. The fact they think he's a better fit for the economy is astounding. There is even empirical evidence that he isn't from his last term. Under funding education seems a good long term strategy for those who want to rule rather than represent. And getting rid of public education entirely is on the cards too. Stupid people that work for less, making babies that will keep wages down is one of Elon Musk's wet dreams for America
