tbf he did have a concept, it never got near congress though. the 'concept' was to turn federal healthcare funding into block grants.

The block grant system would create discrepancies in healthcare coverage across states. Some states might allocate their funds to comprehensive coverage, while others might choose more limited plans, leading to unequal access to healthcare across the country. Terrible idea that'll impact the most vulnerable Americans.

Yeah I remember he floated the idea but couldn't remember the details.

It was a stupid comment, but I don't think it will sway one single voter. FWIW, Trump coming out today dressed as a binman is quite funny.

The thing that really gets me though, is that up until a couple of months ago, Biden and Trump were seen as the 2 best people to run the country. That was the choice. At least one of the parties has seen sense.

It's encouraging to see concern building within Trump's camp as early voting reports show women are dominating early voting . His creepy comment last night certainly won’t help his case. You can’t disenfranchise half of the population (women) and not expect backlash - including from 'normal' men who support women’s rights.

i feel that at this point most have decided, so i can't see it swinging loads. although it might get some non-voters to vote, and i think all of this is a bit more 'normal' now (which is an issue itself, of course). Then it seemed to really show a change, from what i can remember anyhow. I've trump said many things before

Heard one of the pollsters /analysts saying Harris is relying on turning out those who generally vote most elections whilst trump support is highest amongst those who don’t usually vote .

Getting those to vote is massive for trump , also easy for them not to turn up

It's just an amazingly stupid and potentially very damaging thing to have said on the eve of an election.

When Hilary said a similar thing it damaged her badly in 2016, this could well be a repeat of that

Difference is, biden was awkuadly calling those who refered to Puerto Rico as a floating garbage island, garbage.

And this time round it's fairly clear a whole heap of Trumps followers are infact garbage.
I doubt theres one undecided voter out there who goes "that's it, I'm voting Trump' over this.
This might look bad on a general level but the MSG garbage island was WAY worse in an actual votes sense.

he campaigned so hard on reducing gov spending but failed miserably at it.
Obama had to work his butt off to get the national debt back under control from the Bush crash and it only took Trump two years (pre covid) to balloon it again.
Trump will borrow what ever he can and spend recklessly in an effort to self aggrandize. Why anyone thinks he'll change the habits of a lifetime is beyond me.

It's definitely silly, but I wonder if people see it as reflecting his supporters in the room.

Calling Puerto Rico garbage when half a million live in a key state is dumb.

If I were advising Harris I'd be telling her talk about the economy, the money for working class people, the industrial strategy. If I were advising Trump I'd tell him to talk about inflation (although his policies will cause it) and immigration (but sensibly, not stuff about eating dogs).

Id be leaving stuff about fascism and garbage out of it.
