A convention speech isn’t meant to be a policy deep dive. It’s entirely about vibes and getting people excited for the ticket. The debates in a few weeks (if Trump doesn’t bail) will be a much better platform for her to get into policy.

The introduction of the word 'weird' into serious political discourse has to be seen as a step backward to something less than desirable.

I would just caveat that NVLD has similar traits to ADHD and ASD. So many practitioners still misdiagnose them. Especially in early years before certain symptoms become more pronounced.

Exactly. The entire party has been co-opted by these people. The Democrats just spent the past four nights running out every one of their big names from the past 30 years to hype people up for this ticket. The Republicans on the other hand, like I pointed out a few days ago, have a former two term President, his First Lady, three former VP’s, a former Presidential nominee, and his VP pick who was also SOTH, and not a single one of them even showed up to their convention.

Even if I largely didn’t agree with them on policy, they were at least serious people who ran for office with the intention to lead and govern. The GOP is nothing more than a party of grift and grievance now.

I dont buy her, tbh. Her speech was lightweight in terms of policy and presentation and she comes across as being a bit beige.

People talk about 'being presidential' and, of course, any woman who tilts at that post will suffer because people have no reference point for a woman president, but she comes across as insubstantial.

The Democratic Party would do well to keep her clear of any tv interview grillings with any serious interviewer; although she'll probably do ok against Trump, who's almost as bad as Biden and looks and sounds like a dinosaur.

Newsom would have been a much much better pick than Harris. Harris has the re-energisation of the African-American vote and that's her thing that she brings to the table. But she's a very poor candidate. And I hate to say it, but Trump was correct when he was tweeting away that many of the things she talked about last night and complained of were there for her to do something about in office with Biden.

I think her and the Democrats get hauled back over the economy and immigration over the next two months. It's a worry for anyone on here who are desperate for a Harris win.

Oh, and the line about backing Israel all the way with minimal reference to the suffering of the Palestinians: that just lost them the best part of the Arab-American vote.

And Democrats are finally figuring out how to beat these nitwits at their own game while looking like the adult, not the child

Agreed. More being pedantic because so many (not necessarily here) have assumed the term means Gus is non-verbal. I don't believe NVLD is even in the DSM-5

Newsom would have been a terrible pick because it would have meant what you watched over the last four days would have been a humiliating food fight.
Once Biden endorsed his VP that was it.
And it's great that the party so quickly fell in step behind her.
Some sort of flash primary would have torn the party to bits.
Removing Biden wasnt about failed policies or corruption, it was simply age related so there was no reason not to choose his VP.

She did great last night. It's a convention acceptance speech. She didnt need to get in to the weeds of policy.
And she threaded the needle well with regards to thorny issues.

Is this true? Thought she'd caught up with or passed Trump in those states except for Georgia.
