The fighting over names misses the point to a degree that hurts. The Army names the place where the 82nd is stationed as Bragg, and you miss the irony?

Bragg is generally considered among the worst generals of the Civil War. Most of the battles he engaged in ended in defeat. The name should be an eternal monument to the hubris of men. It's both a terrible name, and a wonderful one. It is straight God-tier. It should never be forgotten.
It says so much. Renaming it removes depth of meaning. That is wrong. You do not believe in rewriting Fitzgerald, but this is one of those moments.

Lots of monuments to the hubris of men, for me it is long past time to remove the name of a general that took up arms against his nation to keep fellow Americans in slavery from a current military base. The 82nd’s capability can be expressed in other ways.

It's about thinking you're a beast when you aren't. Our history in conflict since Korea is not good. Wreck you in a desert, lose otherwise.
There is so much depth to this one.
and should never be used to name a US military facility.
Not only is it bizarre to allow it to be named that in the first place, the 50 odd year lag in naming that just shows the appalling legacy of Jim Crow.
DiSantis should be ashamed of throwing blatantly racist red meat to his base.
