It's not been nearly hostile enough given what he's done and what he's said he intends to do.
The media has been utterly supine in dealing with Trump.
You honestly think the 34 time convicted felon, indicted rapist, twice impeached, draught dodging fraudster with a huge amount of his team serving jail terms gets hostile press????
I've never seen anyone get off so lightly in the press.
Biden gives one dothery old man debate and he gets shreaded.
This is one of the weirdest transitions I’ve ever seen. Going from drug dealers and the death penalty to how airports operate badly with delays and prices going up.

We've just went through a media cycle where Dems have regularly stated SCOTUS is either corrupt or politically partisan. Yet, when it comes to Trump's legal issues we are met with incredulity with the idea a court can be corrupt. Weird.
This - it's absolutely bizarre.
Every channel, every talking head, it's all about should Biden drop out of the race, he's too old, blah blah blah blah blah.
As if on the other side there isn't a guy that certainly should be dropping out of the race for any number of reasons, including his age and inability to think on his feet. Convicted felon and pure evil aside.
It's clear there's one set of rules for Biden, because he's from the "party for adults". Then there's another rulebook entirely for Trump because he's essentially a joke.
The Bono of the US has piped up to suggest Biden step down. Well done George.

Wait, what? He’s gotten the exact opposite. If it hadn’t been for the media giving his campaign oxygen in the early days by normalizing it through untold hours of free coverage that no other candidate would have ever gotten, it likely would have died on the vine. They’ve continued to treat him with kid gloves ever since.

Remember when this election was about the rule of law, and the Democrats all agreed they needed to unify behind Biden?
Turns out they're not capable of unity.
I mean it's not just Democrats, in general.
Biden's own re-election/PR team has handled the aftermath as poorly as possible. They needed to really lean into : Yeah, my man's old, he was never a good speaker anyway. But an old man brings wisdom. Let's focus on what this old man has accomplished, etc, etc. But no they didn't do that. It's just been a defiant "he's not leaving the race and the other guy is a felon." And the bizarre spin that he had a cold and was tired from travel. WHAT?
Now that they've allowed this feeling to fester, they lost the narrative. Not sure the train can get back on the tracks now.

I agree with all of this other than your final sentence. However, the fact is most of his coverage was negative even before he won in 2016. The media can give a candidate excess coverage and at the same time that coverage be mostly negative.

The campaign's reaction in the immediate aftermath was horrible, just horrible. Since then they have done well enough. Biden is being rebranded as something between a Clintonian 'comeback kid' and a Pope Jon Paul II in his latter years 'witness to suffering' type. American's do love a good comeback story, which is what Dems have also handed to Trump.
