There is no means of expanding the court.

No one is getting to 60 votes to expand.

And the Supreme Court will rule it illegal before it gets off the ground.

Utter fantasy.
There is a means for expanding (or contracting) the Supreme Court. Congress has that power and it has exercised it in the past. You are correct, though, that it's not likely 60 Senators will agree to it.

As in 0% chance.

Agree to disagree.

Biden is a terrible speaker and 81 years old. I'd rather have someone younger.

But he's at least as capable of serving, mentally, as the 78 year old orange man
Not to mention he has and would continue to surround himself with advisors/experts who are both competent and civic-minded.

Trump hasn't shown this ability in his personal life, business life, or as POTUS.

True, but at least start the fight.
Statehood for DC and PR gives the dems 4 more seats.
It's what the GOP would do.

The Supreme Court is where it is primarily because RBG (and now Sotomayor) won’t retire gracefully under a dem president.

Then Bernie bros for voting Jill Stien and denying the chance to replace Scalia.

Democrats are the complete architects of their own destruction and the court could look very different now if they were as good at playing the game as republicans (look how many have held their nose at trump for Supreme Court seats and lower court picks).

Hilary doesn’t deserve flack for being beaten by the system.
Exactly. Republicans will play ball though. You can bet Clarence Thomas will retire if Trump gets reelected. And if Alito dies of a heart attack (he's almost 75), you'll have a majority of conservative judges until 2050 at least.

Never understood it why the US have this court.
Some European countries have a constitutional court, but merely on a technocratic level;

Just a quick point on the Bernie Bro thing.
and just to clarify, I voted for Bernie in the 16 primary and Clinton in the general.
I was then fairly disgusted by the way his hardline supporters went after Warren in the '20 primaries.
There was a lot wrong with her campaign but Sanders fans went after her like she was Trump. They still do.
but...
It's worth pointing out that in the 2008 primaries more Clinton primary voters didnt vote for Obama than Sanders voters that didnt vote for Clinton in '16.
Clintons loss to Trump lays squarely on her shoulders. She ran a poor campaign. She failed to unite the progressives and moderates, and she got complacent and ignored some vital swing states.
It's also clear now that Trump broke the law in order to beat her.

I'm starting to think Dems best chance is for Joe to drop out of the race late and Kamala Harris to lead a very, very short campaign. None of the scenarios are great for Dems but this might be the least worst option. Again, this assumes the nomination is between Biden and Harris, that any other candidate tears the party apart in the short-term.

Where are the votes coming from for that?

The system is so fundamentally broken that no big legislation will ever be passed again after Obamacare.

Republicans are happy enough to do it via the courts (see abortion) and states. Dems are too wussy to kill the filibuster (despite the fact that making Republicans vote on their policies will be a good thing for them in the long run).

Bills were introduced in 2021 and 2023 to expand the Court. They didn't go anywhere.

Dems would have to have a majority in both houses of Congress and the presidency to admit DC and PR. I agree with you they should do it, if that happens.
