A May Emerson poll found Trump widens his lead over Biden, from two points to five, with Kennedy, independent Cornel West and Green Party candidate Jill Stein in the mix. Kennedy received 6% support, while 10% of voters said they were undecided. The May Fox poll shows Trump’s lead increases two points with the three independents on the ballot. The Times/Siena/Inquirer survey found Kennedy draws votes from key Biden supporters. Kennedy has the support of just 10% of voters in six battleground states in a six-way contest, but support grows to 18% for voters between the ages of 18 and 29 and 14% for Hispanic voters. And the recent Harvard CAPS/Harris poll shows Trump’s five-point lead is unchanged with Kennedy on the ballot. Meanwhile, an April NBC pollfound Biden trailing Trump by two points in a head-to-head race, but beating him by two with Kennedy and other third-party candidates on the ballot.
Some random's synopsis of a few selected polls doesn't mean much. You could tell pretty much any story you wanted, simply by cherrypicking the right polls from the mass of data. The aggregate trendline across polls has been more or less as I stated for a while.

Do boring, sensible, centre right politicians not exist any more?

You can’t help but feel something has gone awry somewhere when in the UK the Tories have fielded Johnson, Truss & Sunak (With Cruella Braverman in support) and the US had a choice between the axis-of-grifting in Vivek Ramaswamy, Di Santis and an actual rapist & felon in Trump.

You’d think they’d both have a better chance in the coming elections fronted by someone who isn’t a serial liar, con man, culture warrior or some other reactionary freak.

If the Green Party and Cornel West go forward as candidates that has to be bad news for Biden, surely?

Dead as the dodo, at the national level. John Kasich was the last of the breed, and it wasn't working for any of them. Romney lost, McCain lost, Bush 43 was well right, Dole lost, Bush 41 lost once he was off coattails, Reagan was well right, Ford lost.

The last center-right nominee elected purely in his own right was Nixon, and he lost in '60. Democrats win by running to the center, but Republicans win by turning out their lunatic fringe. The stock answer as to why is racism, but the explanation takes some untangling.

Green always pulls from the Democrats, the way Libertarian mostly pulls otherwise Republican voters. West isn't good for Biden, and never was. The question is how many votes either will get in the states that matter when push comes to shove. This early, third party polling is best conceived of as 'interest' rather than a firm vote.

We could be charitable, and say this is conservative media educating voters on the actual contents of the Constitution, as opposed to what they might wish or believe is in it.

Some twenty percent of the American electorate successfully being told what to think in such a top-down, heavy-handed manner is disturbing, though. It makes me wonder if Murdoch sprays lightning all over the shop every night while screaming, "Unlimited power!" as he drinks the baby's soul that keeps him alive for one more day.

Folks - reminder that we do not moderate CA and because of that you need to have tougher skin or not post in this forum.

We've been getting a lot of reports recently. If we continue along those lines, Danny will get fed up and 86 the whole forum....again.

The rule is don't be a tit. Keep your comments about the topic not the poster.

In other words, let's be better than our own politicians and media personalities.

….Biden heartfelt and poignant address at D-Day celebrations, got me thinking what Trump would be like.
Takes him a bit to warm up these days, but he still has it once he gets the boulder rolling downhill.

It's a sad speech, though. It's an elegy to what we've lost in America in recent decades. He can't acknowledge it, by virtue of his position, but we can.

Bingo

And this is the hard truth that Trump is merely the symptom of the problem, not the cause.

We already have an example -
When President Donald Trump canceled a visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, near Paris, in 2018, he blamed rain for the last-minute decision, saying that “the helicopter couldn’t fly” and that the Secret Service wouldn’t drive him there. Neither claim was true.

Trump rejected the idea of the visit because he feared his hair would become disheveled in the rain, and because he did not believe it important to honor American war dead, according to four people with firsthand knowledge of the discussion that day. In a conversation with senior staff members on the morning of the scheduled visit, Trump said, “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.” In a separate conversation on the same trip, Trump referred to the more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as “suckers” for getting killed.
