I think a lot of people are opposed to sanders” plan because they don’t see a workable pathway to going from where we are to no private insurance at all. I certainly can’t see how that happens.

if that’s the case then the Dems should really focus on calling for something like the French, Germans or South Korea have - “private” insurance for almost everyone but the state ensuring it really is affordable, that the hospitals provide the full service and that the system isn’t mulcted of billions of dollars

Korean one is a bit weird as it is basically National Insurance. Oddly enough it is big trouble if you are a foreign national working over there but become too ill to work for over a month. Your insurance stops,, and you then have to pick up the bill or leave - and it is hefty

Imagine Sanders elected president and gearing up for his first hundred days of pushing his initiatives for a more equitable society by reaching out to coordinate the congressional networks and coalitions he's built over his long oh wait.

Its easy if you can...

the prospect of hefty bills should at least appease the healthcare lobby

Oh joy, 6 months of “two sides of the same coin” bs coming right up.

Aye. I'm no fan of Biden, but the impending drive to drum up some sort conceptual equivalence between the two men will be a byproduct of Trump supporters trying to rationalise their previous/existing support of him. It's what happens when people have to try and wrestle with the tragic scale of how wrong they were

do you think some of the people who’ve spent years attacking Sanders would have backed him if he’d been the nominee?
Obviously some anti-Sanders diehards would sit out the election if he were the Democratic nominee, but that's not what I'd expect of most people who supported some other candidate against Trump. On a purely anecdotal level, it's practically a cliche for people who don't support Sanders to open critical comments about him by saying that if he gets the nomination, they'll vote for him. As a Warren voter I think Sanders' record shows good intentions and little-to-no ability to actualize them as legislation or policy, and the past several years have demonstrated that he's had little success (and no clear desire) to expand his appeal. And I'd really prefer not to follow one shouty old white dude with another in the White House. Yet I'd vote for Sanders in a heartbeat if he were the nominee against Donald Trump and that seems to be a typical sentiment among people I see criticizing Sanders online.
