Seriously, I was watching him on the night of SC and he had a stage full of young people who look like they were paid to be there. They looked like they could just not care any less.
Youth vote has to be by far the most frustrating thing, people who really need it most re. Student debt/loans. Less and less well paid job opportunities.Promising signs.
Utterly bizarre, isn't it?Youth vote has to be by far the most frustrating thing, people who really need it most re. Student debt/loans. Less and less well paid job opportunities.
The turnout SHOULD be 100% of those eligible, I can't believe people don't want to vote for their own future.
You see tweets with hundreds of thousands Retweets/Likes based on policies that suit the young students, then you turn on the news for Election night and see the fella with the student crippling policies winning in a landslide and the youth voted in a tiny percentage. Beats me.Utterly bizarre, isn't it?
And why? Because a large majority of the country didn't believe that Bernie could beat Trump, and that Biden would be a better bet to do so. That's my point, they all believe they're some sort of *woke* activist without realising they need to actually do something to achieve their goal. And why? Turns out you have to actually get involved in politics to have an impact, not just tweet. You also have to build coalitions with those who maybe don't 100% agree with you, in order to win.
On positive side, Biden seems to have adopted some of Sanders' policies on student debt.
There's little to no evidence that supporting Medicare for All (particularly compared to Biden's "public option" policy) would lead to him winning by a landslide. That's my point, they all believe they're some sort of *woke* activist without realising they need to actually do something to achieve their goal.
Not leaving your house to vote for something that will change your life is mind boggling.
I really do give up sometimes, honestly.
And yeah hopefully Biden realises fast what he needs to do. Student debt and medicare for all will win him the election in a landslide.
I read a quote somewhere that stated it perfectly. Along the lines of "if every other country on Earth has it wrong on healthcare, then why have none of them switched to the correct(USA) one?"There's little to no evidence that supporting Medicare for All (particularly vs Biden's "public option" policy) would lead to him winning by a landslide.
Medicare for All is one of if not the most divisive of all Dem policies, and pretty much every poll rates a "Public Option" as significantly more popular.
Which is not to say that I think it's a BETTER policy, but in terms of popularity with the electorate (and especially the portion that actually, you know... vote), it's significantly ahead
I'm not saying it SHOULD BE divisive, or that people who disapprove of it have their facts straight... but pretty much every poll has opinion on M4A being quite split, and has is being significantly behind a public option.I read a quote somewhere that stated it perfectly. It's because there is hundreds of billions of dollars that don't want it changed. It's not divisive, it's basically Fox News for healthcare.
I think a lot of people are opposed to sanders” plan because they don’t see a workable pathway to going from where we are to no private insurance at all. I certainly can’t see how that happens.I'm not saying it SHOULD BE divisive, or that people who disapprove of it have their facts straight... but pretty much every poll has opinion on M4A being quite split, and has is being significantly behind a public option.
If people aren’t able to see that tying basic health coverage to employment is a stupid idea after an extended period of time in which the government literally made it illegal for millions of people to work, then there’s no hope of it ever happening.I'm really curious to see what happens to the healthcare debate in the wake of the current unpleasantness.
