‘Yeah ok Biden is in cognitive decline and is losing it but Trumps not too sharp either’

Great! A race between two dementia patience’s for president of the United freaking States rather than Sanders is what your saying.
If Biden has dementia, he's had it for 40yrs. He has ALWAYS been a gaffe machine. Hardly a ringing endorsement, granted, but try not to do Fox News's job for it eh? (and fwiw, it's not really a case of Trump being "not too sharp" - if you spend any time with dementia patients, particularly in a professional capacity, you'd know that Trump's behaviour, speech patterns etc are FAR more characteristic of ACTUAL dementia.)

I just hope I can remember in November which smarmy, old-arse, racist I'm supposed to be voting for.
Assuming you're referring to Biden and Trump... but if you really struggle to tell the difference between the two of them... you are SERIOUSLY not paying enough attention.

I get that he's not the candidate most wanted to come through the Primaries (he's certainly not by any means the one I'd hoped for) but let's not be inane and act like there's any sort of equivalence between him and the orange buffoon currently infesting the White House.

Go back 4 years and listen to his debates or his debates in 2008. He has declined drastically.

Let's not pretend Biden has anything good about his political history or is a likable person. He'll purely win my vote by not being Trump and that's a terrible thing.

I haven't always agreed with Joe, on many things, but I've met him several times and he is quite a likable person. A quick memory - the first time I met him was when I was in college and went with a group to Washington in the summer between semesters and met with several members of the House and Senate. While there the talk of the town was Biden ripping SoS George Schultz a new bunghole in a Senate hearing regarding the Reagan Administration's apartheid policy, so meeting him at that time was quite inspiring.

Gee, thanks Karl

Ive only being taking a look closely at twitter lately to gauge what they say in comments. A huge majority take it very tribalsaying ‘you’re not a real democrat’ and just shouting Democrat party like a footy team. I think this party team mentality isn’t good for democracy. He doesn’t have it out for the Democrats he just wants to change things entirely. It’s ok to be tribal about football it’s just sport and a bit of fun competition at the end of the day but it’s counterproductive with politics.

That could make him 77, rather than a dementia patient. People that are as sharp as 80 as they were at 30 are the notable exception rather than the rule.

Biden was a gaffe machine 32 years ago and throughout Obama's presidency, so it would actually be concerning to me if that stopped. (Many thanks to @BirkenheadBlue for the wording.)

The central contention of the seminal book The American Voter is that the sort of tribalism you describe best describes actual voting behavior. That was written in 1960.

What has changed since then is our discourse. The parties became highly polarized, thanks to partisan gerrymandering and the end of the FCC's equal time rule. The latter paved the way for Limbaugh, Fox News and MSNBC most notably among a host of others.

That change is what is not healthy. Government worked a lot better when it was the drunks getting together to hash out compromise solutions they could all live with than it does in this era where politics is about scoring points against the other side.

You come across as such a hate filled person in relation to Trump.

I could only imagine the miserable existence you would live if you were residing in the US.

How will you cope with the next four years ?

Pretty sure the overwhelming majority of posters in this thread think he’s a massive cretin as well, it’s pretty much the only logical conclusion anyone can come to at this point, regardless of his policies.

Wasn't he the one who said "Sanders voters will eventually shut up and vote for Hillary in the general, they have no choice" when Dem primary process was close to its end in 2016

I understand that it’s certainly a station that has a political “side” that it takes, but are we really drawing equivalence between Fox/Limbaugh and MSNBC?!
