These things aren't mutually exclusive, people can be angry whilst this is going on.

I bet the shredding machines in Tory Hq haven't worked as hard in years as they have the last few days.

Public enquiry = years of delays

FULL INQUEST = less time to destroy evidence that would incriminate people.

Which one did they go for?

That is why May announced the Public inquiry quickly to head off the demand for an inquest, she made a political decision.

Thing is that gets my goat, is that some folk lob these accusations around, whilst, I assume, that other parties dont do similar. If indeed, any of them do.

I am sure a random Google search would throw up all sorts of crappy behaviour from Governments, Councils, of all wings.

That what I alluded to in the GT fire being politicised.

No one has utterly clean hands.

Yes we do this but whatabout them!

We got caught but look they did this!

Distraction techniques and yes all governments do it, but there was only one government overseeing this tragedy.

Interesting demographic of posters backing the 'stop politicising this' stance in here.

And if you take offence to that then yes it was aimed at you.

What do you mean?

My first part was an answer to your post, the rest was general musings.

I should've added a few more gaps between them for clarity

Dont get what I should get offended by, and what was aimed at me.

But carry on.

I wonder why May never asked the people if they wanted a public inquiry or an inquest. And hear was me think the Tories learnt their lesson with the election debacle and would listen to the people. That never lasted long. She made a political decision so as to control the agenda, and will attempt to get a flunkey to lead the public inquiry. Unless the public anger grows for an inquest.

Totally right, Labour could have chosen to do something whilst they were in power. (& that is coming from someone who supported that government) That tower has been there for over 40 odd years, those people and the people that are living in similar properties around the country have been let down by successive governments/councils.

Lets hope something is learnt from this tragedy and policies are put in place to tear these things down or make them safer by having a sprinkler system fitted and the correct alarms.

There should be one goal in this (after taking care of the displaced) and that is to ensure nothing like this happens again, or if it does the outcome is much more positive.
