sorry for being clueless, probably why i have avoided any debate on the election so far to prevent me fighting losing battles.

but what does Corbyn mean by the Tories now not having a mandate for anything they want to do? Little confusing as they do have a mandate in their pre election build up. What has changed in regards to that seeing as though they are still in power, so therefore have already planned to make the cuts.

Indeed. Somehow Corbyn seems to believe that he actually won the election, like how we won the FA Cup in 2009.....

They had a working majority before, so if there was uniformity in party voting they could pass legislation.

Now they don't. They rely on the DUP voting with them, and that love doesn't come for free.

Also don't forget they had a small majority before but effectively (because the feeling [and why the PM called the election] was that she actually had potentially much greater influence) the Tories could count on a few mischievous Labour MPs to support them, people determined to see Corbyn and his crew out the door.

Now they've only got the DUP and will have little or no support from any Labour.

Imagine if Corbyn didn't have the media and his own party against him FFS

If he had, he wouldn't have been able to channel the 'them vs us' which mobilised a 40% Labour share and swings across the county

He works as candidate because the media oppose him ('the right side of history')

BBC making a very good point now.

May did manage to win 44% of the vote (not including NI), which is the same as Thatcher in 1983 and more than Blair's landslide of 1997. She did well from that point of view. But Labour did very well too with over 40% - better than any other Lab leader since Atlee. Impressive that SNP and LDs got as many seats as they did against those totals.

No mate - highest increase in vote percentage since Attlee.

Labour got 40% last night, but 43.2% in 1997, and 40.2% in 2001. Still good

I think the one amazing thing i took from the results when waking up today was just how little any other political party counts in this country now. Barely enough between them to even make up half of the main two parties.

Democrats on their arse it seems, how long before they give up?

The EU are loving this....

"Germany's minister for Europe tweeted his delight at the election result. "I'm so proud of young British who voted for # Europe , social justice and solidarity! Cheers! # GE2017" tweeted Michael Roth"

Although I'm pretty sure that the British youth were actually voting for no tuition fees.......
Corbyn offered so many give aways free uni free School meals etc etc instead of just costing concentrating on the NHS - social care - public sector wages - Education lesser reforms - protecting the sick it was there to be won if a more common spending policies - just shaving a bit of over extravagance with a better costed manefesto may have just done it!

His reluctance not to rule a coalition with the SNP, and offer them independence maybe just stopped it being too radical to get in !
