Jesus the daily poisen going after may... wow

@davek

Tubey, mate, what planet are you living on?

The Tories have presided over huge public sector cuts, including 20,000 police officers. After the recent terror attacks, police senior personnel have gone public to put on record their dismay at the damage the cuts have caused to their ability to police effectively.

And you think the official Leader of the Opposition shouldn't criticise the Government for this?
He will come back with they are all self serving...
Personally I'd rather trust a serving officer who knows their job. But you know tubey knows best....

I think they shouldn't make political capital out of it when doing so highlights your own weaknesses.

I'm not criticising him mindlessly either. Corbyn has ran a fantastic campaign and made the most of being an underdog and having a boatload more natural charisma than people thought - this is a misstep though.

I never said that. I said they have an inherent bias, which they obviously do, towards May and the Tories for cutting them. Just like NHS staff would have a bias and so on.

It doesn't mean dismiss them; but it does mean take what they say with a huge pinch of salt, as it isn't coming from a neutral PoV and isn't considering any issues beyond what affects them. For example, they may have no working knowledge of the Prevent strategy and as such do not include it in their views, whereas a more objective voice may have a more over-arching view.

Cats out of the bag. The Tories are bricking it. Hence their pressure on the BBC to suppress the Corbyn speech tonight.

The message needs repeating and repeating until they broadcast it.
Agreed. This is a turning point for the daily poisen to be going after May can not be understated.

I don't see how criticising extensive cuts to the police highlights Corbyn's weakness when (1) Labour's manifesto provides for 10,000 more police officers, and (2) Corbyn has spent the whole campaign (indeed, his whole political life) advocating strong public services.

I think he's not just entitled, but duty bound, to hold the Conservatives accountable for this.

I'm pretty sure serving police officers, specially high ranking officers and former officers have enough experience to know how to do their job and what is needed. Or are you a chief constable with working force knowledge? No thought not. I will take their point of view overs yours I think. They are experts you are not.

Ah right, we all have to be experts to comment on something.

Shut down the Everton forum lads, not enough UEFA A badges in there.

Oh wait, no hang on, it's a forum. We don't all need to be experts to have an opinion.

Because the previous Labour government left a note behind saying sorry there's no money left mate.

He's done a tremendous job of fully costing a manifesto and sticking to what he at least believes can be done by using the manifesto to add credibility. To criticise certain cuts off the cuff to make a political point simply invites the counter punch of "well, what would you have done in their situation given there was 'no money left'?"

Hence why I'm saying don't leave your chin in the air when trying to land a punch. Especially when you have been landing punches left right and centre all the way through so far. There's easier targets for him.

No, you take the point of views of people you want to listen to because they reaffirm your existing view. You don't go seeking contrary opinion because it doesn't suit your ends.

So you latch on to the first thing you see, justify it by saying you wouldn't want to listen to anyone else, then want to talk solely to people who already share the same opinion.

The very definition of an echo chamber, which is what too many are experiencing right now but can't see it.

In all seriousness mate, the Mail goes after the Tories all the time, generally because they don't think they're Conservative enough! Peater Hitchens regularly slaughters them and actually said some fairly complimentary things about Corbyn, he doesn't like his politics but respects his principals.

I am afraid you are shouting in the wind... I am sure all these people will be saying exactly the same things when the tories hit back over shoot to kill, mcdonnel/abbots comments on the police/intelligence services etc.

I don't read it that much tbh mate so i don't know how regularly it happens. Just know it's usually a Tory mouthpiece and it's a strong article against May at a crucial time.
