It's embarrassing to come on here tonight and find people on GrandoldTeam making political points so that they "feel good" about themselves, or whatever drives them.

As it happens, as far as the politics goes, I agree with what davek and ashwuk76 are saying, but, there's a time and a place, and today ain't it. But, heh ho, that's free speech for you. if it makes people fulfilled in some odd way to rant on the internet, than it's a sad reflection on our society, both in the country, and here on GrandoldTeam. However, I've learnt something about both my fellow Evertonians and my fellow Socialists in the last few weeks, and what I learned wasn't great in that, in common with our neighbours, we have more than our fair share of gobshoites.

The police are defo settling old scores here with May.

Quite right too.

That infamous conference showed May's staggering levels of incompetence. A Home Sec treating the police like children.

That said, these articles are therefore very, very biased and show no meaningful insight on the actual subject as a result of that pre-existing dislike.

Only things that have damaged May are her robotic delivery of pre-packaged slogans and the Dementia Tax. Not terrorism.

Corbyn with that speech has done two things - highlight his pacifist idealism (hence why his shoot to kill video is one of the most watched things on the BBC site right now) and emphasised his economic weaknesses by pledging money left right and centre and only offering a vague promise to hit the rich to fund it, which the middle-class electorate that win elections will dismiss.

If he wanted to focus on it, it should have solely been the Saudi Arabian angle - keep it specific to foreign policy and diplomacy.
Nonsense. It was EXACTLY what was called for: out on the front foot and giving two haymakers to the current regime that's just overseen two terrorist outrages in less than two weeks.

That is pressing on a raw nerve and good politics.

It's a General Election thread... If you're so upset, don't read it.

... and in the minds of a lot of voters, bankrupted the country in the process.

Whether you agree with that or not is largely irrelevant too. People see a socialist playing loose with peoples' taxes. That is why he will lose this election - because a redistribution of wealth message does not resonate with the middle-classes who decide elections. That's a cold, hard fact, as unpalatable as it may be, because ideally if there were a way to do it and not cripple economic growth, it'd be great.

So whilst you see Corbyn as someone who would have kept the force 20,000 officers stronger, alot of people will think "at what cost".

As if anybody would think keeping hold of the police officers we need would have bankrupted the country.

If there's one thing people hold dear, it's policing and ensuring safety.

Was't May doing deals with terrorists if you actually took the time to read it. It was our good old Tony who dropped everything.
Oh sorry, I must have confused Blair and May in a photo op with the Saudi butchers all day in the media.

...erm, nope, it was defo May kow towing to the funders of terrorism on our streets.

Fair enough mate but it has to be discussed at some point specially with an election on Thursday.

I read it mate and you're trying to turn it because it's from 2008 and from under a Labour government.

It won't work this time around.

The previous Labour Governemnt - full of Red Tie Tories and lead by a War Criminal - and the Tories have done deals with terrorists and terrorist funding states. Plain and simple.

Ah I see. So the story you quoted doesn't actually tie in to any point you were trying to make, it's like you've just mischievously thrown in it in to give gravity to your claims. I see.

You very neatly, just proved my point.
Seven people died in London last night and twenty-two in Manchester, but you think your words are more important ?

Plainly me typing this puts me in the gobshoite category as well, but at least I know I'm a gobshoite.

Just disagree. It was opportunism from someone too open to a counter punch on the subject matter.

I agree with you fully on hammering home the Dementia Tax. He should also keep on the NHS generally and keep up a highly effective personal campaign that contrasts with the robotic May. But don't criticise on security, where he is distrusted, and specifically don't throw around cut public services unless it is costed and can be explained. He can justify raising 10,000 more - he can't justify the 20,000 that have gone, because it isn't costed and comes across as overly socialist.

Again, if I was typing this in a "London Terror Attacks" thread, yes, it would be inapprioriate.

But it's a forum with a thread entitled "2017 General Election", and even the Labour leader has resumed campaigning on the very subject of the terror attack, so to be blunt I think you're being overly delicate and, if you are offended, you could quite easily not click the thread called "2017 General Election".

Tubey, mate, what planet are you living on?

The Tories have presided over huge public sector cuts, including 20,000 police officers. After the recent terror attacks, police senior personnel have gone public to put on record their dismay at the damage the cuts have caused to their ability to police effectively.

And you think the official Leader of the Opposition shouldn't criticise the Government for this?
