2013 January Transfer Window Thread

Wouldn't mind it if he was genuine, Though i'd only do it with some clauses in his contract, Such as, It's a deal to the end of the season, If he does well, Then we offer him a two year deal, If he turns up to late for training once, His contract is terminated, Something along those lines.

Given our finances though...I can see it being appealing.

Shows the level of desperation. Spurs free transfers: Holtby and Gallas. Everton's: Hitzlsperger and Drenthe

Hitzlsperger is a very good footballer, He just happens to have had the misfortune of having a list of injuries that slowed his career, He would be at a club who play regular football in europe if he hadn't had those, But he has, So i am glad we have got him for the role he will play with us, Drenthe is also an extremely talented footballer, One of the best ability wise we've had in a long time, But his mentality is terrible, It's similar yet very different to the andy van der meyde situation, Andy was well known by the people who worked at everton as one of the best technical players we've had in years, His ability was fantastic, But his mentality went down due to grief-related stuff which lead to him turning to ale and just becoming a bit of a tosser at our expense, Drenthe is different in the fact he knows just how good he is, And at a young age, With moving to Madrid etc is what ruined him with his mentality, Though if Drenthe is truly repentant it could be a good deal.

dont think moyes would have him back, but in fairness if he has had a wake up call, got his head together we would be daft not to give him a run, first sign of bother and your gone type of thing, he is about the right age to be taking stock of his life, not a kid any longer a man ,so you never know, cant see it happening tho

i'd try him again, god knows we need someone who can play on the right with pace, and if he proves himself for a half season we can look at whether to retain him come summer.

Today is officially the most depressing day of the year so I am just going to take a moment to dream of an on form midfield of

........................... Fellaini........Osman..................................

............Drenthe............... Mirallas..............Pienaar................

And 3-2-1 you're back in the room

I'm not saying the drenthe isnt true although like others im not convinced moyes would be interested but years ago if you ever saw billy kenny years ago he'd be telling you how he was sorting his fitness out and was going to train at this club or that club and that such and such a club was looking at him if he proved his fitness. I'm not comparing the two but you get the idea , sometimes like anybody footballers just chat rubbish and aren't completely adverse to kidding themselves never mind people round them .

Hes a footy player who made a multi million move to one of if not the biggest club in the world a couple of years ago who is still in his prime (age wise) and by the end of January he still hasn't got a club, I think that in itself should be very telling . In my own opinion I also think there is no chance of it happening in relation to us.

Former Real Madrid midfielder Royston Drenthe is set to join Russian Premier League side Alaniya Vladikavkaz, according to Sovetskii Sport.

Drenthe, 25, has been a free agent since his deal at Santiago Bernabeu expired in June and has since been linked with a number of clubs all over Europe.

Russian newspaper Sovetsky Sport claims that the Dutchman is now nearing a switch to Russian Premier League strugglers Alaniya.

The club from Vladikavkaz are currently five points adrift of safety and could really use someone of Drenthe’s quality and experience to kick-start this season.

Drenthe has shown a lot of potential during his career, but off-the-pitch problems prevented the player from giving his best.

That is probably the main reason why there have been no clubs willing to take a gamble who last played a competitive game in April.

His high wage demands might have been another major issue as well.

I would take him anytime, IF he really wants to change his attitude.

like sheeds said, he's settled in Liverpool so is this just a convenience for him to come back, is there actually a desire. Moyes seemed open to lescott despite a very poor attitude in his leaving the club, but that was long ago. Drenthe is still an open wound being only a season ago. I guess it depends on how the transfer window works out and whether we are in a position to be choosy in expanding our squad.
