I thought this would be the case.
But where are all these cheaper, and yet supposedly superior, available centre backs? There are none, IMO. Or they are few and far between, at the very least.
Heitinga was definitely worth his pay last year, but he definitely hasn't been worth his pay this year, so I appreciate that there is a big risk involved. I just don't know where the alternatives are for the likes of Villa, Newcastle, QPR, et al.
I'd have expected at least some crap rumours on the subject.

Alright then.
Aston Villa are contemplating a 5million pound move for out of favour Everton defender, Johnny Heitinga. The Villains have been absolutely shyte this season, and new Villa boss, Adam Lambert, thinks the Dutch international is the man who can sure up his defence and stave off relegation. However, questions remain as to whether Heitinga is willing to join such a small club.
