2013 January Transfer Window Thread

Out of interest, does anyone bemoaning the fact that Neville will keep on playing actually think that Moyes was planning on benching the captain while he's nominally match fit, whatever deadline day gave us?

Let's face it, it would have felt wrong (but so right) if we'd brought in a Spanish international striker for £15m, that's not the Everton way! We do it cheap and we do it right (god are we the hipsters of Premiership football? excessive spending habits are so mainstream) and we don't lose any points for not signing anyone as far as i'm aware.

So lets give it all we've got for the last 4 months and see where we end up, yes Moyes/the board has maybe let us down tonight by not giving us some new players to provide some motivation for the squad, but why do they need it? They are 1 point off 4th place, in the midst of teams who have finances we could only dream off, and if that doesn't make them want to give 100% then we should all just go home anyway. Think its important we get behind what players we have now, yes this transfer window could well end up being make or break in terms of the future of the club in the mid to long term, but just because we didn't bring any big names in doesn't mean we have to instantly have to wave goodbye to any hopes of Champions League football does it? We Evertonians specialise in growing stronger through adversity, we'll just have to do it again. (FA?) Cup half full and all that

Holy smokes. I didn't expect us to do this little business. I'm worried about how thin our squad is, but off we go.

I can see both sides of this.

1) We could do do with either a midfield player or a striker to strengthen the current squad, if we do get injuries to more than one player (which we will ) then the players coming into the side are of less quality than the ones going out.

2) Trying to be postive, this is the set of players that has taken us to within one point of were we want to be and with less than half the season to go why cant we stay there, Im expecting more from Gibson, Mirallas and Jelavic in this second half and Victor is finding a bit of form also.

The window has gone now lets concentrate all our efforts into the push for 4th and the FA Cup.

WHAT'S OUR NAME

Indeed; agree with you.

At the end of the season we will finsh seventh, and off will go Fellaini; then off will go Baines; then off will go Moyes...yep, off they all will go!

We had a, pardon the pun, window of opportunity here, now, the month of January 2013, and we ****ed it up.

Just think about our squad and Tottenham/Arsenal/Liverpool...

Phil Nevile - Great leader, but the distribution skills of my labrador...
Osman - Plays well against weaker opposition, but goes missing against Top Teams; lightweight in the tackle...
Howard - Good shotstopper, but oh so poor coming off his line...
Jelavic - Off form, low on confidence...

The Bench - What Bench...
Squad Size - Smaller that my grandmothers wrist...

This was the window of opportunity; it is gone now and come the end of the season, so will Fellaini, Baines and maybe even Moyes [if he really wants to manage a successful team where the board and the owner backs the manager]...yep, off they will GO...

:(

....the irony is that our neighbours reportedly spent more on moving Joe Cole out. We truly are the Keystone Cops of the transfer window. Off to work for some ribbing now and its understandable that nobody takes us seriously. There are moans from within that we don't get as much TV coverage, its not surprising when we're not bringing in marqui players to boost our position. You lads/lasses deserve more.
See you later.
