Yes, because the last striker we signed from Leeds was such a success.

Shame of it was, Beckford was at his zenith on the very last day of the season and all set to improve on a solid debut campaign but we shipped him off when he was at his most valuable for us, £2.5 million we did **** all with it. I do despair sometimes.

Signed on a free, scored 10 goals in his first season in the top flight, was then sold for a fee.

Yeah..

I won't have a bad word about Beckford. Came up two divisions on a free, 10 league goals and then sold for a profit.

Truth is, out of him and Saha, we sold the wrong one.

My source isn't an insider as such but he doesn't think we've got the dough to be honest , his opinion is about £2m all in which will probably sort a loan . I hope he's wrong though and we're keeping it on the quiet .

what do you make of this bid to sign mvilla sheeds ? we made a 3.5 mill upfront offer apparently plus another 3 mill . perhaps moyes does have a little to play with .

I've seen it reported and I asked and was told that unless it was a loan they'd be surprised however we were asking approx €4m euros for heitinga which is about that in sterling isn't it ? Don't know if those two facts are related.

Obviously stuff goes on people that I know would never hear but it's there job to gauge how much money clubs have to spend and what they're looking for and they see us as a club looking for loans without a couple of mil available . All I can do is ask , pass on what I hear and hope there is efforts to raise more going on behind the scenes.

Re: beckford, it was good business to get £4m for him, but I still think he'd have been useful this season and last. He scored 10 goals by getting himself in the right position, granted his link up wasnt perfect, but y'ano.

Nowhere near teh worst striker we've seen in Blue.

I think the problem with Beckford was he wasn't committed. He still lived near Leeds when he played for us and turned up late to a game, because of a delay on the M62! I don't think you can have people like that at the club, so I think we were right to sell him.

We lost the game 0-1 to Reading and went out of the FA cup
