"Oooh I don't think we should sack Walter Smith, I don't think that David Moyes will be much better..."

"Oooh I don't think we should sack David Moyes, I don't think that Roberto Martinez will be much better..."

Every single time. The manager is not bulletproof; if he underperforms, he underperforms. He's not bigger than the club.

You talk about "what ifs" basically - yes, exactly right, it could be a good or bad thing. The reason you change, however, is if you already KNOW what the existing setup is like and you gauge the odds on someone else being more successful to be worth sacking the manager and replacing. No manager of Everton should be automatically considered the best for the job and we should be lucky to have him, and it's this attitude amongst fans that led to Moyes staying a good four years longer than he should have.

You should always be looking to have the right man in charge for the job at hand. If that job ends up being a relegation fight, then that's what the guy in charge needs to be right for.

The first paragraph I can't respond to as you don't make any sense I'm afraid. I'm not saying we're Barcelona.

No it made sense. You think we should sack Martinez because he's not living up to the expectations of a big club such as Everton. Well Tubey at big clubs, what matters the most is winning the league and any other type of trophy because at big clubs, the expectations of the club and fans are measured in trophies, not by finishing in the top 10. If were going by that argument you believe in.

There's a difference between what happened with Walter Smith and Martinez. Smith's side was severely going down the tubes in a hurry and he needed to go or this club would of been in the 2nd division. Martinez is only in danger of not qualifying in Europe, there's a big difference (and no I don't think we will get the drop)

Yes under preforming is one thing, but you can't sack him for a unknown because sacking the manager can lead to a club going further in the abyss because they hired someone worse and that can very well happen. You want the manager gone but you have no idea who you would replace him with and that's very important.

Someone was banned here on Friday who was criticising the manager and the players.

He'd been banned before for being a WUM. On closer investigation his facebook and twitter accounts showed he was a ManU fan pretending to be a negative Blue.

Blues being negative is fine, under present circumstances, it's to be expected. Urine takers from other clubs pretending to be Blues will be shown the door though.

Let it end there.

NOT AT ALL SURPRISED BY THIS.

There is I am convinced some non-Evertonian posters posting things to drive an anti-Everton agenda and to try and destabilise the club.

This revelation confirms this to be the case.

Hope the Mods keep up the good work.

@davek take a look Dave at the above. Disgraceful if true.

It's all about "lines in the sand" I guess. For me, if he picks up four points from the next nine, then this poll is pointless, as for me it wouldn't be justified sacking him and giving him the transfer window to turn it round, as the relegation threat wouldn't be as severe.

But people have different lines. Some have had enough already, and fair enough. Others wouldn't sack him if we were 19th with 8 games to go and, again, that's their prerogative, but all this poll is about is where my line in the sand would be.

yep, got no problems with your thread, i can see why blues are getting peed off. if we'd won 3 on the bounce and were in the position we are now, people's views would be different because well that's football at the end of the day.

we're all a bit down, he needs to address the issues at the back in januray though, this is still the same team that won 6-1 over two games vs a brilliant wolfsburg team.

is right, even the referees seem to be ganging up to offer the opposition points at the moment. regardless of how tosh we've been, we really should be looking at 6 points from our last 2 games if those useless bastards could do their job properly. we're f*cking terrible at the moment, but even we would have found it hard to fail to break down 10 man stoke and hold out against 10 man newcastle.

all fine and dandy though, cisse stayed on the pitch, scored a goal to turn the game but will get his 3 game ban for games that have no relation to us. well done ref, that's alright then, we can all go home happy now

I don't care what our players do as long as we win. And putting the ball out of the play when we have a chance to score is just silly. I am starting to dislike Eto'o.

The refs are bad but we are really hopeless this season. We only got ourselves to blame especially we have quite a few old players around who are going downhill this season.

I expect us to finish 7th the very least. Midtable is very very bad and not acceptable for me. We ain't moving forward, we are supposed to go for 4th/5th...good grief.

Simply not the case.
The vast majority of people who get called kopites, or get neg rep for being negative about the club, are Blues.

We're a big club, with fans from all walks of life, all with very different viewpoints on how the club is run

The subject's closed mate.

Apols to Tubey for taking it off on a tangent.

I did, like. Christ that season just before we signed gibson and jelavic, we were so bloody hopeless, I wanted him publically whipped let alone just sacked.

as soon as he rested our first team for the anfield derby, it was the final straw. many evertonian friends who i know from outside of GOT thought i was a lunatic, couple of years later and they're saying moyes who. the last few seasons under him were utter torture tbh, terribly dull centre mid pairing and no goalscoring strikers.

The last year and a half under him was as good as we ever were under Moyes, imo. But I realise that's a somewhat unpopular view.

It was the fact that he'd gathered the best team of his time here and still messed up the two big fa cup games vs liverpool and wigan that got me, in the league we were actually pretty boss.
