Agreed. I'm very happy with the business we've done so far but why we haven't prioritised an out-and-out goalscoring CF is beyond me. Maybe it's because they're pretty rare beasts and we knew that we'd have a better chance of finding a few attack-minded players who could chip in with a few goals than unearth a goal-machine who actually wants to come to us and not a CL league team. I get that it makes sense to improve our goals from midfield record. Still think we should have been going hell-for-leather for a good striker though.
The 'arguably' best striker in the PL wanted to leave so it's not hard to imagine that the second or third best wouldn't want to come here. Until we're a destination for the top players, we either have to mold our own strikers from the youth teams or bring in a range of mid tier strikers to compliment a more potent midfield.

Once we're fighting for CL spots, I think we'll be able to attract the better players...without meaning to state the bleeding obvious!

Harry Kane wanted to leave?

There should have been our first business of the summer. As soon as lukaku turned down that contract offer in the spring, a centre forward to replace him, should have been seen as the priority. As it is the season has started and no replacement in sight. It's poor management if you ask me.
Spot on we seemed to have put all our eggs in one basket with regards to giroud. Surely that's the whole point of having a director of football to have players scouted in the eventuality of a key player wanting to leave .Rom didn't exactly spring it on them last minute

I won money on koeman cos of him saying it well before anyone else and hes a decent blue
He flip flopped between Emery and Koeman all summer and even if you give him that one he's been wrong on literally everything since then. It's laughable that he still tries to pass himself off as some sort of authority on Everton.

think it was a case of giroud being the number 1 (maybe that was balde from lazio though?) target for most of the summer and we genuinly believed we had a very good chance of getting him, but we have many alternatives in mind which we will now turn to.

Loads on here will be saying "he was never ever coming here, why didn't we move on to other targets in july?" etc, but they don't know anything about the situation. Just because the bedwetters wanted every single signing in on the first day of the window, doesn't mean our club should just give up on their highest priorities. We're still going after our number 1 priority attacking midfielder wheras 70% of this forum would have got bored it didn't work out like football manager and instead ended up getting some 18 year old for £25m because his potential rating in 10 years time is 4 and a half stars. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
