£40m Bid Made For Sigurdsson

Late in the window is no good to Swansea as they need to move on a replacement.

If it really is going to drag on that long then I hope we are putting the wheels in motion on other targets in the mean time. Need and CB and target man before the window ends.

it is already late in the window so probably a safe bet

Errrrrrrrr isn't it already late in the window.
I have a sneaking suspicion that we have agreed a deal less than 50m for him but part of the deal is that we play along like the transfer isn't agreed so they don't get shafted on prices.

@orly intuition weaseling

Like I said, we've also brought in players on top money other than what I've noted. This easily balances out any Kone wages lol.

Schneiderlin is would be on £100k, Bolasie probably £80k and Williams on similar.

If we're counting players who haven't yet left, you could quite easily say that the "3 more" Koeman wants will cover any further outgoing transfers. Sigurdsson will be earning McGeady, Kone and Valencia's wages alone.

I would also hope that Moshiri/the club are putting something aside from the TV money for the stadium.

It wouldn't be unrealistic to assume we've spent £10-15m on agent fees this summer either.

It's not just a simple transfer outgoings - transfer income = net spend.
Still, it's worth including all outgoing players in the interest of fairness. But the main thing is whether the squad is stronger than it was last year. At present it's stronger defensively but weaker going forward. I'm hoping that will be sorted out in the next 2 weeks but a lot depends on which striker we bring in.

It is absolutely critical we get a centre forward.

There should have been our first business of the summer. As soon as lukaku turned down that contract offer in the spring, a centre forward to replace him, should have been seen as the priority. As it is the season has started and no replacement in sight. It's poor management if you ask me.

Agreed. I'm very happy with the business we've done so far but why we haven't prioritised an out-and-out goalscoring CF is beyond me. Maybe it's because they're pretty rare beasts and we knew that we'd have a better chance of finding a few attack-minded players who could chip in with a few goals than unearth a goal-machine who actually wants to come to us and not a CL league team. I get that it makes sense to improve our goals from midfield record. Still think we should have been going hell-for-leather for a good striker though.

I think that's what koeman is doing with it to an extent with the midfield but we still have to sign a striker it's just simple as that.
