    2025/26 Thierno Barry

In the Prem era we've never been in the financial situation to buy at the higher end of the transfer market and the players have in general reflected that. But any striker with anything close to a 1:3 average is decent and we've had a few.

    He was awful

Literally no one mate, only Barry was available for the pennies we paid there. In the entire world, no less.

How much do they cost though and who was available? In nearly 35 years of actively following Everton I think we have only signed 5 decent strikers, Ferguson, Campbell, Yak, Saha and Lukaku. And Ferguson, Campbell and Saha were either old, injury prone or both.

I bet they would score more than Barry every one of them. 6 goals from a striker we paid 30 million for is a fairly bad return. There's plenty of players around his age scoring more goals than he is and looking far better on the ball than he does. He's far more Niasse than he is Lukaku

Niasse goal per minutes is actually second only to Lukaku I think in our prem era? Worthy of his king title. Man didn't even have a locker and he still turns up to everton games occasionally to this day.

I always thought the support for niasse was an obvious piss take because he was utterly horrendous. Nobody really worshipped him, did they?

...and done next to nothing for us. Rondon for example (actually a decent player in his day too, just not with us). To be honest though with the Lukaku thing I think the problem could very well be the club moreso than the players. They can't all be terrible, all these players have scored goals...

...NSNO no less. If he was ‘the best’ and there’s ’nothing but’ being good enough I’d suggest their definition of those particular words differ from mine. And no, Beto and Barry are hardly world beaters are they? I’d say they are better than Niasse though. We’ve lacked a decent striker since...

...months. We’ve never recovered since. Maybe we should have? But we haven’t, so this is where we find ourselves. Having a squad with Deulafaou, Lukaku, Jagielka, Stones, Baines, Coleman, Pienaar and Howard and having them prancing around mid to lower mid table is unacceptable. Given your...

He finished 4th with Marcus Bent up front.😂😂😂😂

Yes and no. One man is not the team. The Lineker year was great but we won nothing. Unlike the year before and the year after. Lukaku was not a patch on Lineker and far from the sole reason we had a decent season, but an important contributor.

Think he’s been our best signing since Lukaku. Was slightly disappointed at the fee we paid at the time - I’m an idiot though. Worth double that easily.

Yeah or swap Beto for Lukaku which, I think, is a slightly more important variable than imaginary stabilisers.

He scored loads in a Moyes team in Roberto’s first season.

Moyes would play full backs if we had quality full backs to play. He also got a great season out of Yakubu, the only quality striker we had (outside of Rooney) during his entire time at club.

    2025/26 David Moyes

You're putting 1 and 2 together and getting 5. I'm critical of Moyes and think the squad we currently have could score more goals than it has this season. That doesn't mean I think the squad we have is CL quality and that we shouldn't make any signings
  20. Bluepablo

    2025/26 David Moyes

Lukaku wouldn’t score anything like the number of goals in a Moyes team that he has elsewhere because of the way Moyes sets up. Playing it long to an isolated centre forward with his back to goal would play directly to all Lukakus weaknesses. Replacing Barry or Beto isn’t going to significantly...
