2025/26 Thierno Barry

I honestly think beto and Barry are essentially the same player.

Both prefer it played through the lines and running onto the ball, of which we do very little.

Beto puts in more visible effort though and has more time here to refine the rest of his game to a degree

Better than what Barry has shown.

23 years old isn't a teenager, he's a fully grown man.

We are in the lower brackets for a lot of those stats because he is wank mate.

If he doesn't hit double figures in the league he's not impressed me.

Look at the goals he's scored, half of them he didn't even know they were going in off of himself.
See this in this thread all the time. 23 genuinely is pretty young for a centre forward. Can anyone name a teenager starting up front in the PL?

Should Barry be starting up front in the PL?

23 isn't 18.

Calvert Lewin scored plenty under Ancelotti at 23.

He's simply not very good, and no matter what way you cut it 6 goals by March isn't a great return.

Unless you smoke whatever @Curtis does.

Igor Thiago is 24 and he's scored 18.

Joao Pedro is 24 and he's scored 14.

Ekitike is 23...

Do I need to go on?
Put any of those players in this team and they're not putting up close to those numbers though.

Barry has shown promise this season for me, nowhere near finished article but links play well mostly and has shown a mix of finishes with his 6 goals. All the noise coming from around the club this season is that the club see him as having potential to keep developing. We will sign a striker in summer, but we won't be selling Barry so imo people should just stop moaning.

I bet they would score more than Barry every one of them.

6 goals from a striker we paid 30 million for is a fairly bad return.

There's plenty of players around his age scoring more goals than he is and looking far better on the ball than he does.

He's far more Niasse than he is Lukaku

This is a common fallacy that says they'd do the exact same off the ball as Barry.

They'd get much better numbers than Barry due to them being more complete footballers, keeping defenders occupied, working space, making good runs, linking up better with solid passes, even taking a couple of touches and switching play to the other side of the field.
They'd increase Everton's attacking ability as a team. This isn't 1986 and the 9 will stand up front and do nothing but tap ins. The modern game needs more complete footballers and this lad lacks so many basic skills a professional should have.

How long was DCL in the premier league before he had that exceptional season under Carlo? If he performs similar next season I'll be more critical. Also hes been alright not horrible needs time to adapt even if he's 23. Your boy Moyes thinks he should otherwise he wouldn't be on the pitch

he hasn't been alright though. besides scoring 6 goals, all you have to do is watch the games and the eyeball tells you he just isnt very good right now

No mate 6 goals from the fella who starts every week is pretty horrible. It's not even decent.

Moyes other option is Beto and he's arguably been better than Barry this season when he's played. Nobody wanted us to go out and buy another Beto but that's what we've done.

The only argument you have is he's a young 23 and he might come good in the future. Maybe if the stars align he gets to double figures but based on what he's shown us so far I sincerely doubt it.

I genuinely do not understand people who can look at Barry and Niasse on the pitch and think one is decent and one is the worst players ever.

There really is not much between them at all. Some good moments and some wtf ones. Beto is in the same bracket.

I don't think any of them are totally horrific, they just have some major flaws.
Think major flaws and totally horrific equals the same assessment. 😄 Signing of Inept strikers over many years has cost this club big time.
