2025/26 Thierno Barry

What are your realistic expectations for a 23 year old who is new to the league, also in a team that doesn't create a lot of opportunities? we're in the lower brackets when in comes to attacking statsView attachment 345680
Better than what Barry has shown.

23 years old isn't a teenager, he's a fully grown man.

We are in the lower brackets for a lot of those stats because he is wank mate.

If he doesn't hit double figures in the league he's not impressed me.

Look at the goals he's scored, half of them he didn't even know they were going in off of himself.

I mean just compare him to Beto who nobody rates.

Beto has 4 league goals in 1064 minutes. Barry has 6 league goals in 1608 minutes.

Beto is out shooting him over the 90 minutes 2.37 shots per 90 to Barry's 1.79. Same discrepancy for shots on target over 90 in favour of Beto.

I think the only number that's better for Barry is his age.

You make it like he's Omar Niasse which he's not, has actually had demonstrated some ability to link up and carry the ball, other than the buttocks goal he's actually scored on some pretty clinical shots I get it he's no rondon , which I know was one of your favorite players

He is very Oumar.

Hahahaha I don't know about that Rondon shout good luck with those vault searches pal.

6 goals in February isn't great, it isn't good, it's not even really alright.

I think we all know Barry had an adjustment period plus we dont create a load of chances. I like Moyes but strikers rarely last too long under him. Because they are doing so many other jobs which take them away from scoring goals. For me Barry is a 10-15 goals a season striker however for a team that creates chances....think we have markedly low chance creation in the league. Hes clumsy, not top class, but scores goals. Which is exactly what most thought he would be.

For the record Oumar scored 8 in 1081 minutes one season.

He's definitely not that good at linking play and carrying the ball. I don't know what you've been watching.

I genuinely do not understand people who can look at Barry and Niasse on the pitch and think one is decent and one is the worst players ever.

There really is not much between them at all. Some good moments and some wtf ones. Beto is in the same bracket.

I don't think any of them are totally horrific, they just have some major flaws.

Oumar Niasse was absolutely horrific and the hero worship of him from some quarters was ridiculous. From the same people who constantly claim NSNO no less. If he was ‘the best’ and there’s ’nothing but’ being good enough I’d suggest their definition of those particular words differ from mine.

And no, Beto and Barry are hardly world beaters are they? I’d say they are better than Niasse though. We’ve lacked a decent striker since Lukaku.

NSNO is just a marketing buzzword. It really doesn't mean anything, would be nice if it did.

What I am saying with Niasse is that people put him up as the poster boy of awfulness at Everton and I wouldn't even have him in our worst five strikers ever (not that he was an out and out striker in the same mould as the other 2). Niasse was more of an ironic cult hero than people genuinely thinking he was good. He did give us some good moments though!

With Niasse (and Beto for that matter) I did/do feel that they can make stuff happen every once in a while. With Barry I feel that he needs everything put on a plate for him. (I also find him a bit...odd, but maybe that's just me!) but hey maybe the shoulder thing is really hindering him, who knows?

We have had players who have played multiple games and done next to nothing for us. Rondon for example (actually a decent player in his day too, just not with us).

To be honest though with the Lukaku thing I think the problem could very well be the club moreso than the players. They can't all be terrible, all these players have scored goals regularly elsewhere.

I always thought the support for niasse was an obvious piss take because he was utterly horrendous. Nobody really worshipped him, did they?

I would love to say your were totally correct and that was also my initial reaction, however I do think some people did aye.
