I'm glad he's scoring goals lately to take the pressure off himself.

That said I honestly can't see him ever being top class. He works hard enough. His movement is fine and he's got the physical attributes. I don't see it with the technique. He can't generate shots for himself in one on ones. He doesn't have enough instinct to get way with that deficiency. At best he's probably a 1 in 3 guy when it is clicking and I don't think he's bringing enough to the table otherwise for us to not want to find someone a bit better.

I'm also happy we've been patient and given him plenty of time. And maybe he's got more growing to do as a player. I'm just not sure I can see him going far beyond what he is now given his technical limitations.

It's crazy how few strikers score double figures now. I know the way teams attack and how defences are drilled is different now, and an increasing number of goals are from set pieces, but striking ain't what it used to be.
