Player Valuation: £10m
If thats true mate, i think Bill has set himself up for a fall after the interview on SSN. I am a confirmed Bill fan but dont really see the need to speak about Mouthino in that level of detail so publicly unless he was hugely confident of it coming of. Not doing himself any favours.
Mate, when you don't need to sell and you don't want to sell you are in a strong negotiation position.
If you set an objective of reaching certain levels of performance and you make the commitment to the fans like Sporting has done, you can't just let go your most prized assets like Moutinho on his first whinning.
I think Bill maybe counting on Zahavi to manipulate the player's will....but guess what, if Sporting doesn't sell Moutinho and even if he drops his performances there are other players for whom Sporting can ask the same amount.
It's just a matter of not selling everyone for the best price. After last season's sale of Nani, money is not the most important thing at the club right now. Now the board can think about going to places and for that they need the best players they can afford. And for sure those sttled players already at the club are the best the club can get. And they're sticking to them.
At some point some you guys think they should be obliged to sell for the valuation Everton think is the fair one... And yes, the player's value matches what someone is about to pay...but in this case Sporting ain't looking for a sale, they want to keep the player.
This season the chairman said that Sporting had 20M euros available to sign players. They managed to spend only 9.5M euros. Which means Sporting still has 10M euros to spend if they need to. Why would they sell Moutinho in these conditions?
